I just added this to my half barrel SS brew tech conical. I’m in Oklahoma and my garage temps are 83° right now. You really need to have at least 13-14 gallons of wort in the conical for this chiller to work. I typically try to target 11 gallons as my final fermenter volume. So I ended up...
I'm looking to update my current temp control on my 1/2 bbl SS Chronical. Any fantastic DIY's out there? I've already got the glycol cooler via a deep freeze with a tub of antifreeze, pond pump and aquarium heat/cool control. Looking for an internal coil alternative. Found this on Morebeer...
Correct
That should be fine.
If you don't have to build a fermentation chamber I wouldn't. Make sure that your STC temp sensor is in a thermowell in the fermenter. I find that my fermenter runs up to 5 degrees F higher than ambient during the peak of fermentation.
Pulse the pump a few times on and off and let it sit the time recommended above. This will ensure that any cavitation bubbles are removed and the other stuff has time to soak.
See my Craigslist add for my fermentation chamber I have for sale in the Tulsa, OK area. Let me know if you're interested. :mug:

I've used this for years with a cpvc manifold. Just ordered a piece of perforated stainless steel from amazon for <$40 and have a braided SS line going to the same shutoff valve as everyone else. I recirculate now and these changes have increase my efficiency a full hundredth.
Disregard...
I bought this one and LOVE it.
