I Dream of Jenny - Cream ale (Genessee Cream Ale clone)

You know it's a clear beer when you can see the color of the grass through it.

What I did for beer today

Yep, you could be correct. Water conditioning to get rid of chlorine...

What I did for beer today

Why would you add Campden to boil? You dont do that. Do you mean Whirlfloc or Irish Moss? If so, Wheats don't get any clarifier. Cloudy is the specialty of the day for them. I'm confused over the Campden thing.

    What's your Favorite Brew Store???

I just ordered stuff for 3 beers from them yesterday for those reasons.

How long is too long in Primary?

No, there should be no danger in drinking it, especially if you kept the airlock wet. Take a sip of it, and if it tastes good (and I bet it will), enjoy it. In the picture it looks totally fine.

    No carbonation

Missing grain wouldn't cause it to be flat. In the picture it looks carbonated. Are the bubbles.just on top and not in the beer? What temp are you storing the beer, and what psi are you carbing it at? How long and what diameter are your beer lines? When you say "tastes terrible", how so...

What I did for beer today

Ordered ingredients for 3 more brews for upcoming vacation: English Pale Ale, Mild Brown, and the mandatory Hefeweizen.

    Favorite of experienced brewers.

My favorites are Hefe's and Irish Stouts.

    Don't Do That.

Someone helped me clean some kegs. A couple days ago, I started flushing them all with CO2, and some of them leaked like Swiss Cheese air balloons. They were fine before the cleaning. I went through most of them and noticed gas inlet pipes missing, gas and beer dipsticks swapped, and general...

Why is my beer so bitter ?

You'll get very little IBU out of adding hops in the last 15 minutes, so almost all of that went to aroma and flavor. Cryo hops are also about 2x as strong as pellet hops. That's a lot of hops for a 3.6% beer, and Mosaic is flavorful anyway.

    Quality Kilju Recipe (Sugar Wine)

I might as well give it a try. I have a couple extra packs of EC-1118 and DAP laying around. I also have some frozen blackberries that I picked fresh (I have a blackberry patch in my yard) that I can use to flavor it post-fermentation.

    Quality Kilju Recipe (Sugar Wine)

I'm thinking about joining this experiment, but hesitating about making something called Kil-Ju. I've had plenty of bad experiences with Te-Kill-ya in my life...

    Ingredient Price Increases

I've been buying kits for years since it's easy and convenient. I guess it's time to go back to doing recipes from scratch, and buying the 5-10 lb bags of grain for the free shipping, since just the shipping for a full bag is $60-80 where I live. That should help the $$$. I DO miss having an...

    Ingredient Price Increases

Yep, I've noticed the same thing. When I started, I could get ingredients for 5g for about $15 with yeast. 5 years ago I could brew 5g for around $22 if I had to buy all ingredients including yeast. Now it's closer to $35. Adding to all that, my consumption has really decreased, and a few years...

Replacing Poppet on a Sanke Key

There's a lock ring you need to.remove around the top outer edge. Once you do that, it'll come out easy. Many of us did that when converting sankes to keggles back in the stone age. Here's 1 of our own going through it. Used to be a Mod here and the 1 who came up with Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale.

man brews beer on mothers day and lives to tell the tale

I really like mine for the same reason. I don't have to hear "Are you done yet?" 25 times because I can get it going and do whatever else I want while it's going.

I need to brew an Ordinary Bitter, recipe review

I'd bring it up to about 4%. Don't over-carb it, also. Bitters should only be around 1.5 units.

An appeal to Northeast U.S. Homebrewers

I definitely think the post is a good thing. I would like to see him not only thrive, but do very well for himself. He's earned it both personally and professionally. It never hurts to make sure people know you're out there, and without a little advertisement, you can get buried under the...

How many styles of beer do you have

Recipe couldn't be more simple: 10 cans frozen Limeade (or lemonade, or mix them) 8 lbs table sugar 1 sachet EC-1118 Yeast nutrient (very important) Enough water to bring it up to 5 or so gallons Let it ferment for a few weeks Sorbate and k-meta for 2 or 3 days Backsweeten/flavor-enhance with 2...
