So I have a friend that's from Lebanon and owns land there too. He was wondering if he would be able to grow hops there and if the climate is right. He also wonders what kind he could grow there. This may be a tough question, but if you would be able to answer this please do.

I'm fairly sure that he can. Lebanon has mediterranian climate (or so says the wikipedia) like Spain (where I'm from), and I can grow them here. Just look for varieties that do well in hot climates and all will be fine.
I only tried here Nugget and Columbus (first year grower), and both do very good, specially the Columbus. However, I've planted them with full all-day sun and some cones/leaves got burned, so planting them in semi-shadow place may be a good idea.

If you want to gather more info just look for north-Californian growers, there are lots of them in the forum (mediterranian climate too).

Hops known to work well in hot climates are:
Cascade
Nugget
Chinook (hot, but not moist)
Columbus
Centennial
Magnum

There may be more, but the info over internet isn't that clear like the ones listed.
