Best practices for CO2 scrubbing of DMS

You know that boil is a bit short for Pilsner malts? A 90 minute boil is the general guideline for those. It's also important the vapors (steam) can escape easily, so don't boil with a lid on it, or even partially (causing condensation and drip back).

    Fermentation stopped a bit early

2 pounds of crystal/honey malt and the high-ish mash temp of 154F are likely part of the somewhat higher FG. It is what it is. How did the hydrometer sample taste?

    Contamination questions?

Excellent point, I missed that: Since it was cooled wort it should have been reheated (or reboiled), then rechilled and pitch the yeast. @nurskyjon was this last night? Have you pitched yeast yet? Pasteurization is the term. ;) (Re)pasteurization can be done anywhere in the range of 150F-180F...

    Leak- post or disconnect?

Maybe the poppet is upside down? To @jermillion, the OP, make sure the (small) poppet o-ring is on the top end of the poppet so it seals against the (inside) top of the post.

    Leak- post or disconnect?

I have had one memorable experience with that: The post itself can handle it, but the (black) QD's collar will pull apart while trying to pry it off, completely ruining it.

    Leak- post or disconnect?

First off, I've never seen a keg poppet stick up (out) that far above the post. But that should not be the cause of the leak, because once the QD is pressed down, the seal is made between the inner surface of the QD and the o-ring on the post. Does the post o-ring extend outside the channel a...

    Contamination questions?

That's a new one! We've seen posts where kids have dropped in gummy bears and other candy, small toys, pacifiers, and such, and turned out successful. A live worm, with whatever was clinging to it, is a new challenge. Not much you can do about it at this point. I would try to "fish it out,"...

For Sale NJ-Selling all brewing equipment

Moderator's Note: Sorry to hear you're getting out of homebrewing. Per our Classifieds rules, we need a full listing of what you're selling, not just a link to an external account. Just copy and paste the information from your FB-MP ad, and insert the picture.

    Leak- post or disconnect?

Using a Corny keg I suppose? Where's the beer exactly leaking from once you push the disconnect onto the post? What kind of disconnect are you using? For easier troubleshooting, could you perhaps post a picture of that post/disconnect area?

    Cosmic Punch starter

Ah, you are using a stir plate, that wasn't clear from your OP. Fermcap-S is definitely your friend. Although formulations and instructions may have changed over the years, one drop per starter (up to 2 liters) should be plenty. Store the Fermcap vial in the fridge, but never freeze it. Mine...

Dry hop added and air-lock activity picked up when fermentation supposed to be over

Perhaps some of it. As @wepeeler said, it's mostly likely dissolved CO2 in the beer that's being released. This is due to adding the hops, creating nucleation sites, and perfectly normal. One benefit, it helps purge the headspace somewhat.

    Cosmic Punch starter

It may work, but the goal is to keep all your starter inside the flask! You'd easily lose half your yeast with those countertop blow offs. Speaking from experience. Avoid overfilling the flask/container. Even when using Fermcap, with or without a stir plate. If you don't want to use a stir...

    Ingredient Price Increases

Moderator's note: Some posts have been deleted or edited. Please stay on topic: The rising cost of homebrewing ingredients. No need to compare to other hobbies that have nothing to do with homebrewing and its ingredients. This was already pointed out before by @doug293cz...

Weird house / real estate listings.

Could be tall windows. Obviously they were modernized at some point(s) in time. The door openings (and the space above) look fairly standard to me but for you at 6'5" they can feel a bit too low.
