Fun fact: my inlaws live in Idaho Falls. Bet they know whoever wrote this.

Things I say to my Beer (or brewery, or random objects related to brewing, or sometimes my doggos)

If it wasn't a Kolsch that I'm going to toss peaches into I might just name it that...but really, that smell was absolutely nasty. Imagine sweaty sock burning in a fireplace.

    Random Drunken Thoughts Thread

I want to get a roomba purely for the entertainment value. Which would last about 5 minutes before my dogs destroyed it, but would still be fun.

    Random Drunken Thoughts Thread

Mentioned in another thread, but today I learned that hornets are really stupid. And smell very much bad when they fry on the extremely hot part of the brewstand.

Hornet, that was a REALLY stupid place to land (on the brewstand where it is very effing hot). Also today we learned that burning hornet really stinks. Also good job brewstand protecting me from flying death needles!!!

Heavy sludge / mud slide / Krausen top of fermentor

Looks great! I've had that happen with beers that included rye in the grain bill as well. As to dry hopping, what @eliastheodosis (and thank heaven for autofill because I cannot spell that at this point in the beers today) said. There are always going to be different opinions, do what works...

What I did for beer today

Many things. Took yesterday and this Monday off, had originally planned to go to Spokane to visit a friend but that fell through. Using these free days to set the garage to rights, and brew at least once. Kegged the pseudolager on Novalager this morning, made a starter for tomorrow's Peach...

    Favorite of experienced brewers.

Almost 8 years in here. Started out trying to make the strongest, hoppiest IPAs I could, much to the detriment of my bank account back before I started buying hops in bulk. The last few years I've mostly been working on the lighter styles; lagers, kolsch, blonds, that are harder to get right...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Got the news yesterday that our next group brew day will be July 6th. Husband does not participate in brewing (except for tasting) so his task is to decide what I get to brew on these days. Decided on a Peach Kolsch, since I haven't done a fruited beer in quite some time. He's on his way to...

how about a meme generator thread...

My first port dispatching job was in downtown Seattle in a four-story building. We parked our cars on the roof. Had dock doors in the back on ground level. This one dude (cannot remember if Swift driver but the stories of them abound up here) decided that he was supposed to drive his tractor...

    R.I.P. @Bracconiere

Ok so this is a weird one. Bracc's last post was on 4/2/23, I'm a little fuzzy but I think that we found that he passed on 4/3/23. If not that exact date, forgive me; but the weird part of this is, my husband's best friend (and a dear friend to me as well) passed very unexpectedly on 4/3/24...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Sold the spare car yesterday, so with cash on hand filled up the grain bins. Today brewing up a pseudo-lager on Novalager as the LHBS was out of my go-tos 34/70 and Diamond. Tomorrow will do the House NEIPA, need to get the pipeline back up and running.

What I did for beer today

Sold our spare car this weekend; it's been sitting the better part of two years out on the street so needed some scrubbing (algae, anyone?). Husband got some stuff at HD called LA's Totally Awesome cleaner and degreaser, took everything off and left the car looking almost new. Yesterday we...

    Random Drunken Thoughts Thread

Not really a drunken thought or rambling, but a poem I wrote this morning for a very dear friend that passed unexpectedly (who ever expects it, I want to know) last month. He and his wife were staunch Irish Catholics, she's actually a teacher at a Catholic school, he went to Bellarmine Prep and...

    Best line from a song

Had this as my sig for a while. We're attending a wake (celebration of life) for a dear friend today who with his wife was a huge fan of Gaelic Storm, so it seems apropos (my word of the month) for today: So brothers, sisters, it's time to take a stand You can pry my beer from my cold dead...

    Random Drunken Thoughts Thread

I kinda feel bad for my echo dot. He lives in the garage, and only occasionally has work to do. Mainly as a timer for brewing or cooking, or checking the weather. Every once in a while he'll ask me to play a trivia game. Yes it's a he, the feminine voice annoys me.

What I did for beer today

Yesterday made up a batch of mead as the last one is going fast. Today brewing another batch of blond on kveik as the last one is also almost gone. First time in quite a while that there is three weeks between brewdays. Life is seriously getting in the way. Also for some reason (could be the...

    Best line from a song

Breathe deep the gathering gloom, Watch lights fade from every room. Bedsitter people look back and lament, Another day’s useless energy spent. Impassioned lovers wrestle as one, Lonely man cries for love and has none. New mother picks up and suckles her son, Senior citizens wish they were...
