    R.I.P. @Bracconiere

Who knows when your last day or hour will be? Drink the imperial stout you brewed last year and were saving for some special occasion, go to a concert, call off sick from work and go skiing or to the beach, learn some dance steps or how to play your favorite song on an instrument. :mug:

    Spot the Space Station

Out at the fire pit last night, someone had the app and the thing went almost directly overhead at 1030 pm. But is a glimpse of a shiny object in the night sky worth $100 billion? Those in charge will likely put up another one after this, but I’m not sure it’s really worth it.

    New to mead brewing

    New to mead brewing

Using staggered nutrient additions greatly improved my mead. Buy some Go ferm, which is added to the yeast when rehydrating, and some Fermaid-O, which is yeast nutrient. Follow the schedule of the TONSA method. Pro mead makers generally make a base mead and add flavor after fermentation is...

    Favorite of experienced brewers.

Low ABV session NE IPAs. I like my versions better than the few commercial examples available.

An appeal to Northeast U.S. Homebrewers

Just did a comparison and for grain, Bobby’s price is much higher. Perhaps for lower weight items like hops and yeast, its more competitive.

An appeal to Northeast U.S. Homebrewers

I just compared More beer to Bobby’s shop for grain and for 40 lbs of 2 row shipped to me it’s $64 from More Beer and $102 from Bobby. Either More beer has special shipping rates or they are losing money selling grain. If I was in the area, I’d buy whole sacks of 2 row from Bobby’s store for $52.

    Warm homebrew is ok

So my cheap freezer-kegerator quit working, and although I got another one, it’s not set up yet. I’ve got 4 kegs with picnic taps sitting in a 62F basement, and it’s not bad. Hoppy Amber, dry stout, Ruthless rye inspired, and and a no-boil graff is the line up. I’m not missing it being cold...

    Tipping on Homebrew Supplies

Why not? Is it wrong to put salty pork in my pie hole while looking at my belly caused by homebrew ? :mug:

    Tipping on Homebrew Supplies

I tip bartenders and food servers at sit down restaurants and that’s about it. Want to get tip income? Go work at a bar or restaurant.

    Tepache

Bought this today at Aldi: https://www.aldi.us/weekly-specials/this-weeks-aldi-finds/this-weeks-aldi-finds-detail/ps/p/vitalifepineapple-spice-or-mango-pineapple-tepache/ On the can it says they used fermented tibicos, and the can says it contains live pro biotics. So I’m going to mix up some...

LOX free malt, Viking "Pilsner Zero"

More beer is offering a discount, I’m going to try it, might even do a side by side comparison with German Pilsner to see if I can tell which one I prefer.

First Time All Grain Brewing Mistake

1.040 sounds ok for a summer beer, how are you adding the lemon flavor?

Recipes to suit supplies in hand?

All my local homebrew stores have closed and I have to order everything on line. I keep a big inventory on hand and usually brew what I want, but sometimes have to make substitutions. After many brews and many different styles of beer, I’ve settled down to hoppy pale ales, stouts & porters...

To dry hop or not to dry hop blue moon clone?

I’m trying to drink more “light” lower calorie and lower ABV beers these days, so I might try a version with the orange peel dry hop idea above.

    Who Held his Beer?

It’s from 2015, anyone care to check if the “perp” became or career criminal, or learned his lesson and now is a productive citizen, maybe even a home brewer? Any chance the whole thing was just a prank? Are St Louis court records available on line?

    Best line from a song

Why didn't anyone ever tell me to buy a grain mill sooner

Many people are offering comments saying go with temperature control next, but depending on your circumstances, I'm going to say get a chest freezer, temperature control unit and some used kegs. If your kegs are all empty you can use the chest freezer as a temp. control fermentation chamber...

    Normal fermentation for lager/festbier

I’d turn off the chiller and let it rise to your room temperature and see what happens. If it’s done, you’ll know.

Stuck fermentation on an imperial stout

Your final gravity is too high, I’m thinking it’s not going to be all that pleasant to drink. Sorry if this has been asked and I missed it, but is there any chance you are using a refractometer and not getting an accurate reading? If it’s accurate, I’d brew a dry stout and add Amalyse enzyme...
