What I did for beer today

I kegged my Old Glory American Wheat beer. I basically brewed @Sammy86 's recipe with the exception of adding 2 oz of Citra Hops at the last 15 and 5 minute marks. Smells and taste great. Can't wait to enjoy this one.

    Pictures of hop plants

It is only May and I getting concerned about the possibility of some of my hops reaching the top trellis bar and wrapping around it. That would make harvesting difficult as it would interfer with letting it down when the time comes.

Is it just me or are bottled conditioned Homebrew better than kegged?

Lol @mac_1103 you are probably right about that 50%. There sure are a lot of budlite drinkers out there not to mention the rest of the lame American mass produced so called beers.

    Letting Bull shoots grow

I can't seem to get good results from any other variety than nuggets. While I do get a small amount of cones from cascade and Columbus they produce very little in comparison to nuggets. I had a 3 yr old Saaz at home to come up first this year but it simply fizzled out and died. As a result here...

How many gallons brewed in 2024?

@hilljack13 Maibock is one of my favorite styles to brew. Patients grasshopper, patients is the phrase I always employ when making a Maibock and or Octoberfest but it is so well worth it. I still do them old school, triple decoction mash, true to style ingredients, 6 to 8 weeks of lagering and...

Is it just me or are bottled conditioned Homebrew better than kegged?

Interesting experiences here. I stopped bottling in the late 90s. I bottled for the first few years of home brewing but once I obtained the necessary equipment to do closed system transfers I only keg mine. I have a good counter pressure bottle filler but I haven't used since I perfected...

    Hello!

Welcome to the community from Alabama. I am a big fan of Lagers and Pilsners. It can be challenging here in the southern USA. I have been using a refrigerator to ferment and lager in but I obtained a 6 tap kegerator last week that will accommodate several kegs to lager at the same time. Happy...

What I did for beer today

I brewed an APA yesterday, 7 gal into the fermenter. Used a repitch of a Chico 1056 Yeast about 6th generation. I made a starter with 1.020 wort but it took over night to get going. I believe that was caused by the temperature of the wort was too cool resulting in the lag time. However after...

What I did for beer today

I picked the first six tap handles for my new to me beer kegerator. The tap will represent the style on tap. I try to keep a variety on hand. This new kegerator is gonna be a big help. It's gonna replace 3 other refrigerators and a single kegerator. Yeah yeah I know there is 2 Red Hook...
