    Mash tun too big??

I use a igloo cooler but even so I preheat to ~68 degrees. I mostly brew in the winter months so I'm mashing in the garage. Preheating in winter brings the vessel up to basement ambient and allows me to dial-in Beersmith as though I only brew in the basement which is much more temperature stable.

I think you're missing an opportunity. Did you consider bottling it and selling it as "Mineral Water"? :p

Gardening: My Tomatoe and Pepper Progress

I just put three plants in this morning. Still looking for some Pink Brandywine but in case I don't find them I put in a German Queen plant. Haven't tried them before but I wanted to have another heirloom in case I can't find the pink Brandywine. Had great luck with them last season.

Dry hop added and air-lock activity picked up when fermentation supposed to be over

Somewhere on here there is a great quote about home brewers being able to find more things to worry about. If nothing else here is true, that sure is.

I have had this happen a couple times with NO ill-effect. Why can't you sample before bottling???? You can't undo it so sampling before bottling might save you some work if it isn't worth bottling.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Wholeheartedly agree. I've "owned" most all of the SW I use and quite satisfied with the arrangement.

The pay-once model does not exclude updates necessarily. That may just be the implementation that the vendor chose. Make no mistake, subscription model is profit driven.

    Storing full kegs

I keep mine in the basement. Temp is pretty stable at 65-68 degrees.

what does the pbw powder taste like?

I should have clarified that in my initial response I was not referring to teeth when I suggested testing the cleaning qualities. Sorry for any confusion that may have caused.

Couldn't that result in an unpleasant experience?

what does the pbw powder taste like?

I wasn't going to ask how the OP managed to have two unmarked substances in the brewery. I went with benefit of the doubt.

what does the pbw powder taste like?

I think I'd use the "cleans better test" VS the "taste test" Also, my PBW has a coarser/different texture than dextrose.

    What are you drinking now?

"West Coast Hero" by Revolution. Not sure how long this has been out, it's a limited release, but I find it delicious! Wonderful hop aroma and taste. If you're not into "hoppy" you probably will not like this one. I personally am heading to the store to find more, more I tell ya!

I don't need any glasses but if anybody has any of the rare foil hats let me know. Apparently they can be used for other events as well.

    outdoor brewing

Those stinger-equipped guys are especially fond of wort I have discovered, especially the variety that come out late summer. But such is the life of a brewer who has been banned from the kitchen for the past thirty years.

Alternatives to Worm Gear Hose Clamps?

We use t-bolt clamps on any fitting below the waterline on our boat, actually most all of the clamps are T-bolt.. They are secure, no rust and maintain roundness. Downside: the smallest I have seen is about 1.25" ID, you need a wrench to install and remove and they are pricey. While they could...
