Breckenridge Double Hopped IPA (471 Small Batch)

Possibly that batch, or the recipe could have been changed over time. But got a couple cases of it for free this past weekend, and it is DELICIOUS. About 100 or 150 other industry folks at a distributor's convention agreed. :D

Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

I threw my pumpkin straight in, and didn't have any problems (other than a lot of pumpkin in the bottom of my kettle, which just rinsed right out, so no problems). No bag.

    Yeast Washing Illustrated

Between washing and farmhousebrewing for hops, you can DRASTICALLY cut your costs of each batch. :rockin:

Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

Where did you find these? There's a local kosher store that carries a wide variety of craft beers, but I've never seen that Pumking beer. Typically pumpkin beers are seasonal and aren't around except for fall/thanksgiving, with the rare exception of a great store. Thanks

Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

Yuri is (as usual) completely right. Drink this beer early and often!! I made the mistake of putting these away in the cellar to condition, then totally forgot about them. The pumpkin and spices fall out very quickly. =(

    Abyss & Cream

Hah! Sounds nice. I got a couple of the 2010 bottles for free yesterday at work while handing out samples, it was pretty damn tasty! I very much liked their Mirror Pond Pale Ale.

    Meads/Melomels have frozen (OMFG NO!)

I suppose because I was forced to leave and left him in charge and he happily agreed to follow my directions, and then didn't. . .??? It wasn't a matter of the actual "brewing" that was the problem. Though a timer is a good idea in lieu of a digi therm contr, and I'm not exactly sure why I...

    Meads/Melomels have frozen (OMFG NO!)

Containers are intact. One of them had actually popped the entire airlock and grommet out of the neck instead of cracking. And no active fermentation, these are all over 6 months old and have completed fermentation. I'm going to put them back in the fridge I suppose then, and let them sit for...

    Yeast Washing Illustrated

I might be missing something here, but 1.053 as an OG isn't actually what I would call "low-gravity" necessarily. A majourity of the beers I have made have been around that gravity (or even lower) with the exception of some strong stouts, and you should have an ABV of about 5.8%. That's not...

    Meads/Melomels have frozen (OMFG NO!)

 So, I went out of town two days ago and I asked a friend to take care of everything for me while I was gone. I gave him strict instructions to turn the chest freezer on, and then to turn it off after about 2 hours as I do not have a digi therm (ranco), and just use the fridge's dial to hit...

When to go from Primary to Secondary (If at all)

The final gravity will be different for every type of beer out there, and even the same beer in different batches will have a slightly different gravity from each other. There is no blanket answer for what your final gravity reading should be. It depends on what style beer you are making, what...

    Blueberry Mead

If you wanted a pretty strong blueberry taste, you'll want some blueberries to be in your secondary. Fruit in primary is almost completely fuel for the yeast, and you get more flavour and colour from your fruit when they are added after fermentation has ceased.

    Blueberry Mead

When I racked, a few berries and berry bits floated over through the cane and are still in my secondary. It'll just add a little more colour and flavour. I've been adding a small amount of honey at each rack, and this quickly became a dessert wine but I will say that it is DELICIOUS. Just be...

Infected. To rack or not to rack

Odd. It has chaaaaanged. So, I was tired last night and didn't dispose of the bucket, and instead it was left sitting on my outdoor dining table. I went out to water the plants, and thought I'd take a look in again. And it's a bit different, but not better by any means! Still being chucked...
