    Watermelon wine

Apparently this is the season for trying this. I started my watermelon wine on Saturday but I went about it completely differently than everything I have read on here. I went with a recipe I found after a very brief search and didn't do too much other research on it. 1 gallon Watermelon Juice...

    Murphy's Law

I had what turned out to be too big of a pot on an underpowered burner. I had to pour out half my wort to get the pot to a boil. I chilled the half I poured out and put it into my carboy early. Piss poor planning and whatnot.

    Murphy's Law

We all know Murphy's law. Whatever can go wrong will. Today I decided to take advantage of the snow to brew up a batch of whiskey barrel stout from brewers best. Started out with my big pot, 4 or five gallon wide topped pot, on the burner on my stove. I had to use a smaller burner because I...

    That'd be great thanks

Adding fresh fruit juice to the mead?

I'm looking at the rhubarb mead thread and got to wondering, what kind of results I would get if I ran the fruit I intend to use through a juicer instead of adding it in sliced or whole? Would I treat it as adding a juice concentrate? I'm looking at doing a strawberry rhubarb mead like that...

    Burnt Honey Mole Bochet

One of the guys I work with asked if I could do a Mexican Mole style of Mead. I just did the burnt honey bochet (I keep "sampling" the stuff directly from my secondary jug, I'm not sure it'll make it to the bottles) and thought that perhaps this would work well together. I have Brewers Friend...

Cocoa Chipotle (Chocolate Mole) Robust Porter

Do you think this would work with a mead?

    Is this SS or Aluminum

It's aluminum. The color does not look right for stainless steel. To double check hold a strong magnet from a string near the keg, 18/8 or 316 stainless steel will have a very slight pull, aluminum isn't magnetic. Or pick it up, an aluminum keg should only be around 30 pounds, SS will be...

    Success!

My first mead has turned out better than I hoped, though I am curious what it would have been like if I hadn't put that clove in each bottle.

Pumpkin Pie Mead (fermented in a pumpkin)

I'm going to try this recipe and I plan on making some kind of a granola bar with the pumpkin. If that works I'll share a recipe. Op never mentioned what type of yeast he used.

How Do You Design Beer Recipes (Poll)?

I'm thinking of getting a dartboard and a small roulette wheel. The dart board will determine the wort's ingredients and the wheel the hops and amounts.

    Is there a dictionary?

Never mind I just looked up the page...

    Is there a dictionary?

I'm trying to get up to speed on everything in the brewing world but just about every thread I open I come across at least a half dozen or so acronyms I don't know and no reference to them in whole. Was there a reference thread for these acronyms or just a thread of definitions in general?

    Current Mead Making Techniques

When I made my mead Saturday, I had just plowed headfirst into what I was doing having read a couple of articles, umm, partially. Not a great plan, but hell, that's the way it happened. I put my spice bag in at the very beginning, from when I started heating the must up to the point where I...

    Hi!

I guess I'll have to get Mr. Beer out tomorrow and make some.
