    Who is Brewing this weekend?

I've been "away" for a while and am going to brew on Tuesday. 2 - 1 gallon batches (not sure if I'll get through both on the same day as it's been awhile!). One Scottish Ale (Bellhaven Clone), and a Coffee Stout. Going back to all grain, but taking it small because it has been some time!

    Your TOP 6?

Keep that last tap open for your seasonals or beers you want your guests to experiment with. This way they have a "surprise" choice when they come over. Also another good way to introduce them to different types of beers, and they can compare the rotating tap with whatever else they are used to...

My puppy had a fun half hour!

I teach obedience classes on the side, and this is one of the most common issues people have with pups. It's a good thing they have that "baby puppy" face going for them! Dogs who destroy are usually just bored - they need mental and physical exercise, especially as pups but adults, too. And...

Spent Grain? Make Your Best Friend Cookies!

It's not a bad idea to have their bloodwork checked regularly if you are going to go to a high protein diet. Of our 4, we only have one that could tolerate it over a long period of time. I usually mix the Core with a bit of a more "mainstream" dog food - something with a bit more grain to make...

Spent Grain? Make Your Best Friend Cookies!

So glad this came up on the "new posts" for today! I just brewed my first AG batch this week. The dogs wouldn't leave the spent grains alone! I think if one of them could have took off down the hall with the grain bag, I would have found her hiding under the bed with it! Thanks for the...

BM's Centennial Blonde - first AG - can someone proof read for me?

Did my first AG tonite, and can testify that a 15 qt pot will not hold 9lbs of grain...maybe 7 or 8, but not 9 :) I thought this might be the case, so I had an empty primary as back up. I was amazed at how well it held temp. It wasn't pretty, but after 4 hours, it's done! It'll go much...

Easy Stovetop All-Grain Brewing (with pics)

Just wanted to shout out a quick thank you! for this post. Just finished my first AG batch on the stove using a version of this method. I ended up using 5 gallon buckets for the mash steps, and was surprised to see how well they maintained the temps I needed. I also did a full boil using 3 small...

Ingredient question - new to AG - pale malts

Thanks for the info. This will be the first time I've cooked up an AG recipe, so I have no idea of the differences (if any) between the different "pale malts" as my taste buds aren't very experienced yet! When I started searching around, it appears that there are differences, but how different...

Ingredient question - new to AG - pale malts

Hi all, I'm putting together an order for several ingredients to do a few extract batches, and a few small AG batches. The recipes come from different places, so I'm trying to understand what I can combine in the order to prevent ordering lots of smaller amounts of lots of things that might...

BM's Centennial Blonde - first AG - can someone proof read for me?

I was also thinking about doing a small batch of BM's Outer Limits IPA, but assumed the almost 9 lbs of grain (3 gal batch) would be too much for my little pot (patiently awaiting next payday for the bigger pot and a few more buckets...HWMBO is going to kill me!). Your reply made me...

BM's Centennial Blonde - first AG - can someone proof read for me?

I'd like to brew a couple of 3 gal batches as my first experiment in AG using DeathBrewers Easy Partial Mash Brewing method (probably using the oven to maintain my mash temp). I think this is a pretty well known recipe here, so I've left some details out. I'm mostly concerned with my math in...

    McMenamin's Clones

How did they go, and did you happen to find a recipe for the Working Man's Ale (the Irish Red that they serve)?

Max time allowed between priming sugar addition and bottling? What a moron!

Let me add a second "What a moron!"...I left the caps in the bleach water and they became rusty caps...imagine that! So, no problem letting the beer sit...I'm out of caps! This is what I get for being cheap and not keeping the "staples" on hand :) Guess it's ok though. The airlock is bubbling...
