    How many hydro's have you broken?

    Broke my first one tonight while bottling my Cherry Stout. Thanks for jinxing me. :mad: It was in the tube with a sample to test and my elbow knocked it off the table. Worst part is I had not observed the FG reading yet:confused:

    Pitching temperature

    I cool my partial boils to 80 degrees than dump into the primary, when I top up with about 2 more gallons of water the temperature lowers quite a bit more. My question is can I pitch ale yeast, smack pack or dry, at the lower temp or should I try to get the temp back up to just under 80? :confused:

    When you add the Knox gelatin do you hydrate or just sprinkle it on the top. Do you whirl the secondary gently to make sure it mixes with the beer. I assume you do it a day or two before bottling. Thanks for any response.
