    Finding the right fridge...

I am thinking that a more typical counter-height fridge like the DAR440 series will work. I just need to modify the cabinet to fit the fridge there. And then run my lines through the top and the counter with the tower on the counter. But I want to take my time and do it right. Maybe byt he...

    Finding the right fridge...

Well, i am temproarily abandoning the project. There are no real fridges that fit my oepning that will hold two kegs. I discussed it with my wife and she suggested that the secondary counter with the sink in the same bar room has a huge cabinet built in that we don't use for anything but...

    Finding the right fridge...

Ok, so we bought a new house and my "beer fridge is now locate din the garage. In the bar room of our new place, ther eis a small under-counter fridge that we currently use for bottled beer. I would love to replace it with an under the counter keg system and a draft tower ontop of the counter...

Tried the Corn starch/alcohol test, no obvious result

Any chance of fitting two kegs in it the DAR340? I am looking to replace a small fridg ein my bar, under the counter. I want to put a draft tower ontop of the counter. But my opening is only 19" wide. I don't know if I can find a fridge to work for two cornies.

Hops in Michigan - first year report

Volume wet was about 3.5~4 gallons in a 5 gallon bucket. To be honest, I didn't weigh them wet this year, as my scale is a quite small and I only cared about the dry weight. I would estimate it as being similar to last year....ie, a quarter to a fifth of the wet weight. -Todd

    Craigslist- Detroit Area Free Hops

Haha, kind of south....yeah, a bit! I am bummed that I don't have the time to go an pick from this guy...if its legit. I have a 2 week old newborn at home and already got a ration from SWMBO when I took an hour to pick the first harvest from my own hops!

Hops in Michigan - first year report

Well, last night I weighed, bagged and sealed the first pick. As I said it was from a 2nd year Hallertau. From that first pick I netted 5.5oz dried. Not bad, especcially since I know it will likely produce another 2oz at least.

Hops in Michigan - first year report

I live in Wixom. My first year plants range from 18" tall (Mt Hood), 3ft tall (Kent Goldings), 6ft (Cascade), 12ft with burrs/cones (Cascade and Centennial) and 19ft with cones/burrs (Hallertau). Overall, i just want good root establishment. 2nd year harvest is the what I am interested in...

Can Determine AA% and BA% of Homegrown Hops

Would also help to know how much you need to run the test. In other words, if you need 4oz of hops to run the test, most here would likely not part with them. If you need a few cones...game on.

    Need some reassurance...

Thanks for the reasurance. Tonight, it was 59F and bubbling, with the tmep still dropping. Hopefully, with a good D-rest it should be fine. Do you think a week at 66~68 will be sufficient rest?

    Need some reassurance...

Well, my best hope is that it dropped from 88F to 65F in about 7hrs and is still dropping. As of 7am it was 65F with no airlock bubling. Here's to waiting! -Todd

    Need some reassurance...

That was my hope. My concern was that pitching the starter, it would take off hard. Or that the initial 88F would hurt the yeast. But if I remember, it takes more temp to really hurt the yeast. -Todd

    Need some reassurance...

So last night I had a friend over, as he wanted me to teach him to brew. So the beer on deck was a Munich Helles (specifically the Hofbrau clone from AHBS). I made a starter last week (1/2 gallon). ANyway, the brew went smoothly, but as we were chatting near the end i mis-read my thermometer...
