I know this is a really old thread but.. I wanted to offer what I just did.
I used a can of compressed air upside down freezes the rubber instantly and then I drilled with a drill press and forestner bit. Nice clean hole.
I just came up with an easy solution.
I mostly use pet carboys to ferment. Then I rack off with Co2 and a sterile siphon rig from Morebeer into a corny. Recently at my LHBS I picked up a 6 gallon Fermonster for ease of cleaning. I used it for an IPA and it was great but I couldn't transfer...
Well the block party was rained out but a tap opened up at my place. Had some people over last night and it was a big hit.
Streets On Fire, The Mob Goes Wild
I haven't killed the other kegs in the kegerator yet. They are both about to kick. I take some "samples" while carbonating and conditioning the keg and it tastes great to me. I will be taking a keg of this to my friends block party Saturday I am sure it won't last long.
Drink to the Dead!
Wow. The yeast dropped and I took a sample after turning the temp up to 70F to finish. Took a sample 1.009 Smells very tropical aroma pineapple and citrus. Taste is really good too. Could use another couple of days or so before I hit it with gelatin and crash. But I can see drinking this next...
I finally did it. Figured this would make a nice summer refresher. Made 10 gallons yesterday. I bumped up the 2 row and skipped the sugar. FG 1.042 Used US-05. The wort tasted good.
Hopefully this beer will put the onlookers and innocent bystanders into a trance!
So mine was a hit last week at a holiday party. I did not add any more cinnamon or lactose to the keg. I had previously put 2 sticks in the primary. People were a little skeptical but they all seemed to enjoy it. We killed off about half the keg. I put the keg back into cold storage for...
I got my version of Cinnamon Horchata brewed using very much the same ingredients as above, except I doubled the lactose and used 1.75# minute rice. I hit OG at 1.59. I sampled it after a week and found some cinnamon flavor. I had my wife try it and said more cinnamon would be good so I left it...
Sounds interesting. My wife really likes the BM Cinnamon Horchatta. I am going to try this. Anything you would change about the recipe?
Also Was the cinnamon added to Keg really over powering? Lactose in keg?
Thanks!
We finished off the first 5 gallons a few weeks ago. It came out very good I followed the recipe exactly as written. Everyone loved it. I dry hopped the second 5 gallons with 1 oz of Cascade. Tasted tonight and it is awesome. Even better than the original. Nice Citrus bite at the end!
