    Crs

I've been using CRS for a couple years, but now these posts have me wondering if I should try something different. My water supply here in Vienna is: 125ppm alkalinity as CaCO3 2ppm chloride 7ppm sulfate Using your calculator, it seems as though the CRS doesn't raise the chloride or...

    grassy 2013 Amarillo hops

Well, I put an all-2013-Amarillo beer in the Birofilia competition and I got isovaleric acid marked as a brewing fault. Doing a google brings up this info on isovaleric acid: The hops were vacuum sealed and stored in a freezer, so I'm not sure if the fault was on my side. I'm not sure if these...

    grassy 2013 Amarillo hops

Definitely not aimed at you as I hadn't actually read the last few posts. When I said, 'asked about this' I meant I asked him about the bad press this year's harvest was getting.

    grassy 2013 Amarillo hops

Yea it was kind of a non answer, but it seemed like he knew what I was talking about. He gave a pause before saying that, so maybe he was trying to think of a way to not say anything liableous.

    grassy 2013 Amarillo hops

I asked Stan Hieronymus about this and he said that Amarillo is a beautiful hop and that people are always trying to talk trash about it.

    grassy 2013 Amarillo hops

I just sniffed 2012 and 2013 Amarillo side-by-side and I got a bit of garlic in the 2013. I'm not sure about grass.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

How would I make this beer sweet, smooth and creamy like a cream soda but without the vanilla? Should I up the carapils? Any thoughts on adding lactose? Maybe cold some conditioning for the smoothness? I brewed it last year using the original recipe and it was a hit. I'm happy with the way it...

    grassy 2013 Amarillo hops

Is it safe to say that they are ok for kettle hops, but that one should not dry hop with them? I have an all-amarillo wheat planned for next month & I'm wondering if I should totally switch out all of the hops or if I should just switch the dry hops.

American Pale Ale Lake Walk Pale Ale

I made a variation of this brew yesterday which I'd like to present to some people in March. How long after bottling does this beer usually peak in flavor? Is it best when the dry hops are really fresh, or do they need a month to settle down? If it's better when it's really fresh, I'll let it...

Crowd Pleasing American Dark Ale Help? (Black IPA/Cascadian Dark)

I edited the hop schedule. The first one I posted was accidentally the hop schedule for a 5gal batch. I also moved some hops from 60 to 15 and added the dry hops. If you have time, tell me what you think! :)

    Overflow After Dry Hopping (Video)

oh no not the leakage! This jug holds just part of my whole batch. I have another 7 or 8 gal in another fermenter. I meant that I was going to mix the two at bottling, but now I wont.

    Overflow After Dry Hopping (Video)

Let's hope that this is true. I was planning to mix it back in with the rest of the batch while bottling, but I think I'll quarentine this stuff and bottle it separately just in case.

    Overflow After Dry Hopping (Video)

I added about an ounce of pellets to around 1.3 gal of fermented wort and this happened. There was very little head space when I added the hops. It was up to around the handle someplace. It foamed like this for around five minutes or so and then died back down. The fermentation ended about a...

Crowd Pleasing American Dark Ale Help? (Black IPA/Cascadian Dark)

I'm putting together a recipe for an American black ale which I would like to enter into a Polish homebrewing competition. I don't want it to be too extreme since this is a brand new style for them this year. http://en.festiwal-birofilia.pl/the-categories-of-the-home-brew-competition-2014.html...

Amarillo Hops any good for bittering?

I have 05, 04 and notty on hand. Which of these would compliment the Amarillo the best, Yooper? I'm going to try this in a couple weeks with Belgian biscuit instead of toasted malt.
