Can you Brew It recipe for Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale

Tenten - do you mind sharing your recipe - any tips/tweaks you did to the ones posted earlier in this thread? It looks great, and if it's in the range of a passable clone thanks to some small change you did, I'd love to learn from your experience. Looks great, and I'm glad you like it!

Karl Strauss Wreck Alley Imperial Stout

Did you ever follow up on this? I got a bottle from a friend coming up from the states and few months back, and have been thinking about doing a clone ever since. This seems to be just about the only recipe I can find - and I'm leery about just scaling up the remaining 7.8% of the recipe.

STC-1000+ PI (the mash control firmware)

I'm continually amazed at the options that we have for control systems, and even more amazed by the people who have the initiative to take advantage of that. I wouldn't have even thought of that ... Do they have a higher failure rate, or a downside I'm unaware of? They don't seem prohibitively...

STC-1000+ PI (the mash control firmware)

Alpha - I like the idea of setting the buzzer when the time is up (maybe have as a configurable menu item?), but might suggest avoid going for set-up-specific aspects- really limit to it to the typical elements (or maybe that's jealousy on my part, regarding people's fancy solenoid-driven set...

STC-1000+ PI (the mash control firmware)

I like the cooling relay for controlling a pump - I'd been wondering about that since you first mentioned this project. Consider this a hearty endorsement! In terms of profiles, I'd say that you can definitely drop down to 5 - I don't think one extra will make or break the system, but it will...

Mats - this has honestly made my night. I noticed you mentioning this project in passing a few times, but I've just put in the order for camlocks and a pump to build up a RIMS system - the last bit was a control system. Thank you again for putting together this amazing improvement - if you're...

After playing around in the monitor a bit more (changing baud rate to something else, getting gibberish, and back to 115200), the 'd' sent normally - uploading the Celsius sketch without any issue (despite the 48 lines of messages). Looks like I have a solution! Now to finish the...

So I the bootloader - v0.00, which is indeed out-of-date. Lacking a 10 k Ohm resistor (though I did think about using the temp probe of the STC at 25 C ;)), I went for the halving the code approach. I made the following changes (first pass at cutting out F, being a Canadian)...

So I borrowed my roommate's PC to try and troubleshoot a bit - Blink still uploads fine, but no matter which USB port I use, i get: avrdude: stk500_paged_write(): (a) protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x64 avrdude: stk500_cmd(): programmer is out of sync Still no luck on my macbook ... next is...

Any idea why other simpler sketches wouldn't have any issue? I will definitely agree on the different port issue - both times it loaded (with the arv dude message) was through the left port on my laptop. I'll try a different usb cable this evening.

The Arduino interface did that itself actually - as soon as I tried to open the sketch, I got a dialog box (as covered in the instructions), and the program made a folder 'picprog', and dropped the sketch in there.

    Stc-1000+

Has anyone else had issues in uploading picprog to their Arduino? Depending on my luck (haven't found reliable way to make it work), I either get 'Upload complete' or 'Problem uploading to board'. Does anyone know of a decent thread to troubleshoot the failures? Either way, after uploading (or...

After looking at a table for a 10K NTC thermistor, I can see why this shouldn't really be a concern - R at 20 C (68 F) can be on the order of 12K ohms. On a related note, could someone change the lookup table that is loaded via Arduino? If using another probe, for instance?

    Stc-1000+

I'd thought about this, but was concerned about screwing up the look-up table by not connecting the probe directly to the unit. How did you figure out that it won't throw off the measurements?

I've been following this from a few days in, and I've been amazing at the progress - kudos to alphaomega for pulling something like this off! I'll be happy to supplement the field data as soon as I get some header pins for an arduino. One quick question tho - if the thermistor lookup table is...
