New Tap tower or drill old one?

Yeah, that's exactly what I did. Although if RC00032 was able to get a 3 tap tower for $60, you might want to check on a 2 tap tower from Acumetal.

New Tap tower or drill old one?

Are you sure you need to replace the tower? I have an old Kenmore kegerator too, with a 2.5" tower, and I drilled a hole for a second tap. I forget how to post pics, but if you check out my gallery I posted pics. In order to get the taps to be on the same level I ordered new shanks from...

Dogfish Head Night @ Capones in Norristown, PA

Not sure if I'll make it up there tonight, Brewt00l. Is Capone's worth the drive from Philly? I've heard about this joint before, but don't know anyone who's been there.

How long to drain a MLT cooler

Well I definitely missed that part of the thread. My experience thus far has been no collapsing of the braid - as far as I can tell. I've been using the same braid from my 2 gallon mini mash tun to my new 70 quart tun that I just mashed 22 lbs of grain in.

How long to drain a MLT cooler

I'm totally confused here. Why are you adding holes to the inner hose? You should remove the inner hose.

    Did you know?

Ugh, I loathe those chain restaurants/bars. It's one thing for those kinds of joints to pop up in the suburbs, but man when they pop up in the city it drives me crazy. And regarding ice cold beer, there is a brew pub in West Philly that serves their own ales (and I'm thinking in particular...

Crushed grain can still convert after 1 yr - Experimental proof

Sweet post. You should submit this to BYO or Zymurgy.

    Immersion Chiller Leaks?

Do you have the hose shoved on the IC as far as it will go? My IC came with two clamps for each hose. Also, you might want to look into getting new clamps if the ones you have are stripping out when you tighten them down.

    Secondary wort chiller...

That's pretty warm right now for tap. I think my tap water is around 65 right now. I don't think coiling your hose in a pool of ice water will work. Some people have set up a pond pump and a pool of ice water - using the pump to push ice water through the chiller. You might might want to...

Teach a Friend to Brew Day

Nice pics. Looks like a great day for brewing. What'd you make? And did you get your buddy hooked on brewing?

    Secondary wort chiller...

What's the temp of your tap water? Are you stirring (gently) while chilling?

adding malt extract in the last 15 minutes of the boil?

Benefits include lighter color, reduced caramelization of the extract, and better hop utilization. Add about half at the beginning of the boil, add the rest with about 15 minutes left, add your chiller to the boil, and then start the final 15 countdown.

Any all grain brewers near Philly?

If no one else offers, you can come by my place for a session. I'm a bit of an all-grain newb, so buyer beware.

Quick question about northern brewer kits

Your way should be fine, but you might want to up your sparge water temp. You want to raise the grain bed temperature to be near 170 at mash out, adding 170 won't raise the temp enough.

    Troegs now offering tasting room

"The idea is that when you come in with friends, you can take the tour, each grab a $5 sampler tray and taste and compare the various brews that Troegs offers. " One of the things I loved about Troegs was that samples were free and pretty much unlimited when you came in for tours.
