Enjoy!! This is a great recipe and funny enough was my second all grain batch too..next week's kettle sour will be my 100 gal mark :) greatest hobby eeevvveeerrr!!
I purchased my false bottom from adventures in home brew and love it. It's a slotted dome design and is hard lined but the nice part is the connection to the ball valve on this inside is a compression fitting. I am able to get a fine crush on my grain and have not had a stuck sparge yet...
I overshot my numbers on this beer and it turned into an 8.3% beast of a brown. I really liked it when it was fresh but just opened the last bomber I had after about six months age and it was fantastic! All the bold flavors of this brown melded together into an amazing beer.
I wish you all...
Happy brewing holidays everyone! I brewed this recipe on Sunday but sadly had to do a variation :0 ( local home brew store has been really slow and looking to open a brewery in January.
So long story short I am using norther brewer for bittering and fuggles for late addition. For yeast they...
Classic question that comes up for the newbs. Since you are only 5 days in I wpuld wait about 5 more days and take a gravity reading. Since you had a lower OG I would adjust your expected FG a smidge. Rest assured at the end of the day you still made beer :0) good luck and welcome to the obsession.
Well I brewed up a tasty 8.5% nut brown ale about 5 weeks ago. Started cold crashing the beer about 2 weeks ago (had planned to bottle after 1 wk but wife got sick). Since I wont be able to bottle for a week or so should I leave beer at 36 or raise up to cellar temps (54ish) to try to conserve...
Theheadsn..I have the same size freezer and didn't do anything special besides use a 12 amp appliance plug for wall. My unit is external from freezer with a Celsius stc and house wall plug. Good luck! Best thing I ever did to help my brews :)
I think the challenge you are going to run into is only allowing the hops to sit for 3-4 days..I normally shoot for a week of dry hopping on my beers. 1oz of hops will be enough to add a little nose to the beer but on my IPAs I shoot for 2 oz. Good luck and I'm sure it will be tasty either way.
Howdy HBT peeps! Couldn't help but share another first in my home brew career as I laugh at myself. While working to transfer my 4th all grain batch (NC red seal ale clone) to bottle bucket I got the idea to zip tie a hop bag to my auto siphon to help filter trub.
Well the zip ties would not...
I really liked the 2oz of fresh zest..it's been in the bottles for about a month or so and has balanced nicely. Good orange flavor on front side complimented by the cascades but still has that pale malt flavor I love. All and all a great beer :0)
I used fresh zest of a naval orange and added 2 oz with 10min left in the boil. Its been in the bottle 1 week so I am patiently waiting. All gravity samples tasted awesome with a medium orange kick. Cheers!
Hello awesome HBT people! I'm sure this has been asked but I am ready to build my mash tun and wondered what people favorite setup is..I'm stuck between the class 10 gal or bigger cooler or turning a keg into a tun with a insulation vest on it? Currently have about 5 BIAB batches under my belt...
Working through my second case of bottles of this amazing brew..recipe was spot on and love the hoppy goodness this offers. Looks like a re-brew will be needed soon and this will become a household staple :0) cheers!!
