First batch after a couple of year break. Tomorrow gonna be a Morebeer extract kit "Look at that Hop Blonde"

I could be wrong, but I believe Austin Homebrew was purchased by the parent company of Northern Brewer and their operations/order fulfilment done at the NB facilities now.

Yeah, I just got a chuckle out of it....and I DO love Citra, esp. paired with Mosaic.....

I'm gonna be the outcast here and suggest to do a batch of Joe's Ancient Orange Mead for your first one. Really easy, hard to screw it up, good tasting Mead. Use that to get your feet wet and go from there....

Welcome back, just getting back into the brewing my own self.

Hey all, I was a regular here a few years back, starting with extracts, then moving into whole grain with a Robobrew. I stopped brewing a couple of years back, due to a bunch of reasons, mainly age (71 now), burnout, gaining a lot of weight, etc. I have decided to start brewing once again...

For me, US-05 is always a very slow starter, I wouldn't worry about it....

I went through a few problems with hop creep (mosaic is terrible for this), but I found that all is well if I just put a bit less priming sugar in when I bottle. If the style calls for, let's say, 2.4 volumes of CO2, I will prime for 2.0 volumes and all is well.... YMMV Lon

Having moved from extracts to all grain about a year back, I can tell you that all of the people that tell you that you need to crush your own grains are 100% correct. You will never get consistent mash efficiencies with either a LHBS or online HBS crushing the grains for you. Just get it over...

I am running mine at .050 and getting just barely flowable mashes with my BZ 3.1.1. Than again, my mill is a Maltzilla and they say it works a bit differently than most mills (I don't know what the difference is, it just appears that they use a different type of surface to do the crushing), so...

I don't stir, but I am using a Brewzilla and am continually recirculating the wort back through the grain bed during the mash....
