My ice maker runs off my RO water system for our drinking water too. Last night I put m,y brew kettle on the snow on my prch for about 20 min., then, as I always do I dump the ice from our ice maker into the wort- That, and adding cold tap water to get it to 5G cools it quickly. Bad method...

I've never filtered, OR 'cold - crashed any batch I've ever brewed- ever. I know just about everyone reading this is cringing and/or puking about now.
Every batch I've made comes out well. Looks clear enough, etc. HOw clear do you need it to be? It's beer!

It came out awesome, and I've brewed it several times since, using Wyeast though. I have a batch in the bottle now- so smooth, probably at least 8%.

For 20 years, I"ve been doing Grain/Extract, I thjink it's called partial mash? Anyways, I've done recipes of this before too. But I have always used liquid...
I realized that I didn't include a yeast.
Partly b/c I saved the dregs/bottom of several of my last beers to use a a yeast for this brew.
I do bottle only, and naturally carbonate in the bottle.
