    Geothermal glycol chiller

Did you ever end up burying a coil? I am just now learning about geothermal and I was curious if a 50-100’ could buried several feet in the ground could provide enough cooling power solely for fermentation control. Low 50’s for lagers or higher for ales. Still thinking what this might look like...

Welcome! I don’t make wine because I don’t have the patience. With beer, you can enjoy the fruits of your labor in about 5 weeks (sooner if you’re in a rush). You should definitely get into it.

    RO water and sanitizing containers.

To later use as mash water? If so, I think just cleaning is good enough.

    Corny Keg Showdown

All of them look sorta like this. It’s a shame I didn’t realize until it was too late to return. Have 4 of them.

    Corny Keg Showdown

I would stay away from Torpedo. I ordered several torpedo kegs as I do like the design, and I’ve also ordered their stainless picnic taps. The machine quality on both are low quality. The keg posts are wavy and while this hasn’t been a problem yet, I expect it will eventually become a point of...

For Sale 14 Gallon SS Brewtech Unitank

The $900 tank is the 7 gallon version. The 14 gallon tank is $1050. Unless they just adjusted it again.

Transitioning RO system from city, to well water

I agree and will definitely get a report because I’m curious what it’ll say, but I’m wondering if it’s really necessary given that I will be running it through an RO system anyways? I assume I would use RO water for everything at that point, cooking etc. Could my process change based on what the...

Transitioning RO system from city, to well water

Hey Everyone, I just bought a new home and move in on February 27th. My prior home was in the city suburbs and I was on city water. The new home is more rural and uses well water. My RO system is the premium RO system from Buckeye. I have also been using a pressure tank and a permeate pump...

    Stainless CFC Choices

Finally pulled the trigger on the Stout counter flow chiller. I won’t get the chance to use it for another month or so (in the process of moving), but first impression, this thing is built like a tank. I’m surprised by how heavy duty it is. Was packaged extremely well in the box too. Can’t wait...

For Sale 14 Gallon SS Brewtech Unitank

I purchased a 14 Gallon SS Brewtech Unitank when they had their Black Friday sale in November. Haven’t even had the chance to use it yet. The machine oil is still on the tank which will serve as proof of that. With the announcement of the 2.0, I want to try and get my money back so I can get...

Time to Get Real About Eating Spent Grain

I have taken a pinch of spent grain and ate it. I read about people making spent grain bread and other foods but haven’t got around to actually doing it. I think some people make dog treats? Curious to hear what other people are doing.

Hornindal Kveik is blowing my mind

For all future readers, my WCIPA came out just fine. That recipe was for a 2.5 gallon batch BTW.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

That early in the process provide a layer of defense while in the keg? Or is that simply providing protection during the mash? You have any resources where I can read up on this a bit more?

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I’m not keen on the science but I am pretty sure sulfites provide some level of defense from oxygen. For this purpose, they would be added after the yeast had done their job. I would imagine a good time would be during dry hopping, or at packaging. I agree you should definitely do your best to...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I scanned through last few pages and didn’t see any mention of this, but are you guys adding ascorbic acid or sulfites at any stages? If so, when, and how much? Any other additions in the mix these days? I’m aware of the usual methods of oxygen prevention - purging kegs, closed transfers...

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

You should connect a black liquid ball lock to your co2 line to do this. Never force a grey ball lock on a liquid post. If you have swivel nut fittings, this is extremely easy. If your using fixed barb ball locks, I would change over to swivels.
