    Concord 15 gallon brew pot

I think Concord has different versions, so if tri-ply is something desired you might double check it is before you purchase it.

Need Input on Potential Equipment Purchase...

Sounds like full price means you are paying cash for those gift cards. $400 would probably be ok for the kegerator and kegging equipment.

    Clueless grandma needs more help

If you have amazon prime, the bayou classic 16 gallon with a ball valve can be had at $132: https://www.amazon.com/Bayou-Classic-1064-Stainless-16-Gallon/dp/B007V493PG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1505833713&sr=8-1&keywords=bayou+classic+kettle An idea for the extra money you have would be to buy a...

OG supposed to be 1.045, measured 1.025.....

Have you used wheat malt before? Potentially milling could have contributed since the kernels are smaller. They need to be milled a little tighter to get a good crush. Your recipe uses a lot of wheat malt.

    SS Brewtech Infussion Mash Tun

I feel you there. I actually converted to BIAB to avoid the mash tun all together and had great success. Recently, I converted back to a mash tun to experiment with low oxygen brewing. I bought a cooler kit from Bargain Fittings and was able to get my mash tun leak free by throwing out the...

    New Rig and Process Review

If recirculating, can you do full volume mash? Not sure I see a need for a sparge.

    SS Brewtech Infussion Mash Tun

For me, if I'm considering spending much money on a mash tun, I would be looking at what it would cost to go electric with recirculating mash. Even a kettle can be insulated with reflectix for cheap. What do you hope to gain with this mash tun vs. other options? What else have you considered?

    Secondary vessel options?

I've heard people dry hop in a keg by using a hop sock and some dental floss. The lid of the keg will keep the bag in place (string is pulled through the side of the lid). Then you pull the string to raise the bag when complete and it will take the bag out of the beer. No need to open and...

    Cost of CO2?!?

I think Airgas tried to tell me that included in the price is keeping the tanks certified so you don't have to worry about it. The welding shop I exchanged mine with didn't even ask about the date. They just took it. Much cheaper than Airgas.

    Secondary vessel options?

Use a keg...Carb while it ages/conditions/lagers. It takes one less transfer out of the equation for infection or oxidation.

    Cheap compact wort pump

I know others have a difference of opinion and maybe different cleaning techniques but I break down my weldless fittings and pump for this reason. Only took me one time to discover a nasty growing for me to do this after ever use. It doesn't seem like too much effort to disassemble, but others...

    Copper equipment

At the time I had bought my stainless chiller on Amazon prime from NY Brew supply for $55. Looks like that offer is no longer there. I paid $70 For 25 ft 1/2 ID copper chiller.

    Copper equipment

Maybe I'm wrong but seems there are much cheaper stainless options for all our brewing needs out there. I got a 50 ft stainless chiller for cheaper than my 25ft cooper chiller. Works much better too.

    Camlock and general fittings question/verification

I could be wrong, but I thought pumps need to be located below to valve to help with priming. With my pump, it was recommended to set it up that way. I have a mark II

    Bru Gear or Spike

As Augie suggested, I think the issue with Bru Gear is the customer service. However, if the kettles are in good shape it would be hard to pass up with TC fittings in place and everything else that comes with it. I think most customer service complaints were about shipping delays or missing...

    Cost of CO2?!?

I only know of one beer shop in plano that swaps 5lb tanks for $20. I have found an equipment supply in downtown Dallas called Bacon Equipment that filled my 20 lb tank for less than $20. Park it market in Dallas also does 5 lb fills, but I do not know the price. I've gone to a welding shop...

Gots me a new kettle (haven't decided mash / boil)r

Understood. As I've said, I've used mine several times including a pump. I have not found any leak issues with its design as long as its not over tightened. I haven't seen a situation that I put enough force to move it. It stays in place the whole time. Depending on your view of the trub...

Gots me a new kettle (haven't decided mash / boil)r

Yes, my valve still has a little give. I hand tighten mine just enough so that it will not leak. Haven't had any issues leaking even though it wiggles a bit. Be careful not to overtighten or you might experience a leak. I recently purchased a low profile spin cycle for whirlpool from...

Help me decide wether to bottle or keg

Skimming the messages here but thought I would add that kegging can be multi-use. I've now started fermenting in my corny kegs. Can ferment under pressure and close-loop transfer to reduce oxidation when filling the serving vessel. Check out this thread...
