    My Second Home brew (start)

If you are referring to whether 1.020 is low enough my opinion is to have patience young padawan. Even after you've hit your target gravity it's best to let it sit to let the yeast clean up so as to lessen your chance of off flavors. Try to make it to 10 days for primary fermentation. Just keep...

    My Second Home brew (start)

Oh thank god somebody mentioned the cat food. Haha! My eyes kept drawing to it in the pics. Course I'm surrounded by dozens of chickens when I brew so no doubt some chicken poo in my brew or something. Beer looks good OP, keep up the obsession!

    CO2 and the keg

Awesome, thanks guys that makes sense. I've been struggling with these kegs for awhile. Thought I had leaky kegs, really just a leak of my chemistry learning from the brain...

    CO2 and the keg

So I've been dealing with (or at least I thought) leaky kegs. Fairly new to kegging I was taking the approach of testing my kegs by filling them with water applying about 30psi to seal the lid (purging the O2) taking off the gas connect and letting it sit overnight or so to see if it held...

You know you're a home brewer when?

You are buying a new house, and most excited about the new brew space and that the previous owners left a deep freeze. :D

You know you're a home brewer when?

When you bottle and mark an Amber Ale you've made and look at the box and just laugh to yourself. Should I drop them off for the next meeting?

    Messing with SWMBO

Well I'm a female and I do like a prank and a laugh, but nothing makes me laugh more than the smack in the balls I give my husband after he tries to mess with me...

    Adding a weld-less thermometer

Thanks so much for the feedback. It seems for only 15 bucks more or so I can get the whole thermometer/weld-less connection shebang; always trying to save monies, but might save myself the risk of a fail and a headache in this case by going the easy way. Thanks again for the input o' mighty...

    Adding a weld-less thermometer

I couldn't find a thread already about this, so if there is one feel free to just point me to it. So I want to put a weld-less thermometer on my kettle. I already own a thermometer, not designed for brewing, but a good one. What do I need to buy to put it onto my kettle or is this not...

What I did for beer today

Bottled my APA, hooked up with someone on craigslist and bought a brand new burner, 5 gal glass carboy, bottling bucket, bucket fermentor, hydrometer, thermometer, tubing, two cappers, caps, 1 gal glass jug and other misc stuff...all for $60. Didn't need most of it, but too good to pass up. Yeah...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Jalapeno Cream Ale

Amazing beer! Very pleased with how it turned out. I believe that a cream ale style is the perfect match for a pepper beer. All who've tasted it, love it. Wish I could take credit for the recipe.

Homebrewing as a way to save money

Geez, grow some balls and brew more if you want to. Besides, brewing is way more fun than "shark week". Although who am I to say, just brewed yesterday and I'm on the rag. Guess I got the whole stick...

Most annoying response when you tell someone you're a homebrewer?

"I don't like dark beers." (Like all beers other than BMC are dark...sheesh)
