    Mirror Pond by Deschutes

Recipe looks good. The only question I might have is, why 2lbs of crystal? I was under the impression that more than about 1lb is excessive lighter styles such as an APA. Hopefully the more knowledgeable minds will chime in on this topic. Also, is that Irish Moss (not pete moss)?

    Mirror Pond by Deschutes

Likewise, Mirror Pond is one of my absolute favorite Brews (except maybe for their new Inversion IPA). I've got two different extract/specialty grain clones which are decent. The first is from Clone Brews: 3lbs DME (or 4.5lbs DME if not using specialty grains) 2lbs pale malt 1 lb crystal 20l...

    I wish I hadn't discovered homebrewing...

I might have to take back ever creating this thread.... I started off the night with a few Lagunitas IPAs, mmmmm.... Then my roomate convinced me to drink some Keystone Lights. blehhhhhh! Thanks god for home brewing. I cannot stand such crappy flavorless "beers". I'm gonna go crack...

    Kolsch recipe from Beer Captured?

Has anyone tried this, its called Reissdorf Kolsch. Either that, or does anybody have a tried and true extract/grains Kolsch recipe. My second question would be, how does Kolsch yeast tolerate higher temps (65-68F)?

    OG readings effected by sediment?

    Good to know, thanks Kaiser.

    OG readings effected by sediment?

Don't feel bad Whammo, I have wondered that on several occasions. Especially while making a IIPA, the 8 ounces of pellet hops suspended in solution would seem to have some sort of effect, right? I didn't really worry about it too much though, it tastes great and the abv is definitely...

    Space Heaters for Fermentation Area

I use a space heater as well. It's just one of those $25 cheapo ceramic space heaters from Lowe's. My brew closet is really tiny so it keeps the closet within 2-3 degrees at all times (I'm always impressed at how constant the temp is though my apartement temp fluctuates a lot). If the heater...

    Party Pig...carbonation low

Wow. In my limited experience with the party pig I should think that 1/3 cup would give more than ample carbonation. Hmmm....

    Lag time

Guess I'll have to go crack one now. I guess it has been a month or so since I had one. Either way it's still beer, and I do like bananas!

    Lag time

FYI, the banana taste doesn't really mellow with time. My Hef has been in bottles for 5 months, still tastes like I added a fifth of 99 bananas at bottling time!:ban: Think drinking a hefeweizen while chewing a piece of juicy fruit.

    Party Pig...carbonation low

The instructions included with my party pig said to add 1/4 to 1/3 cup of corn sugar. The first time I used it, I tried 1/3cup and it came out way too carbonated and I lost most the batch to foam. The next time I used 1/4cup and it come out just about right, if not a little too carbonated...

    I wish I hadn't discovered homebrewing...

Just got done with finals. Spring break woohoo! You know what that means...I can do all the brewing stuff I can handle for the next 10 days or so. :rockin:

    Question for longtime extract brewers

Exactly my thoughts Budbo. Plus, pulling off an AG brew in my tiny apartment would be an act of God. I have stepped up to doing the occasionaly mini-mash and I'm ready to convert to the dark side as soon as I'm out of school and out of this apartment. Plus, since last september I've brewed 50...

    Delerium Tremens Clone

I'll go ahead and field this one. ETOH is a commonly used (at least in the medical/health field and probably others) for ethyl alcohol. Therefore, ETOH-ics = alcoholics. :p

Anybody have a good Apricot Wheat recipe?

Searching this board along with recipator,etc... has produced a few recipes, but I'm not sure they're quite what I'm looking for. Anybody have an apricot wheat recipe that comes highly recommended? Thanks

    DME to ABV ratio?

Pumbaa i know that you did not make those numbers up (recipator did), but I don't see how 1# is .4% yet 2# is 1.5% and so on. My logic tells me that each pound would contribute the same number of gravity points and therefore contribute equally to potential alcohol. I would howerver believe...

    Another FG question

Richbrewer --This was an extract/specialty grain recipe. I also added some turbinado sugar to the recipe. The yeast was WL001. Other than that, there was 1lb pale malt and 3/4lb crystal malt.

    Another FG question

My IIPA has been in the primary for 8 days. It started at 1.090 and as of about 15 mintues ago is down to 1.018. How low can it be expected to go? (It's already gone lower than I though it would) This is an extract/specialty grains recipe. Thanks
