    Witbier Largaarden Belgian Wit

Hi Larry, Brewed your 2017 modified recipe about a month ago. Hit all the numbers and took a taste today. It's amazing, and with another week of conditioning will be fantastic. Thanks again for sharing! I really appreciate the work you put into your website and videos, and your willingness to...

    Heater for Anvil 7.5 Gallon

I've only been brewing for a year, and am thinking about getting a stainless steel fermenter. I'm leaning towards the Anvil 7.5 gallon (https://www.anvilbrewing.com/-p/anv-fv-7.5gal.htm). I currently have a heating pad for the bucket fermenter I use, but realize that wouldn't work for the...

British Brown Ale Nut Brown AG

Thanks! I saw that you use Candi sugar in your batches. What does that impart? I'm hesitant to use it, but would appreciate hearing how it helped your beer.

California San Mateo - BIAB system plus plus plus

Interested in the stir plate and the grain mill but don't have plans to be in the area until next June. If you consider shipping, please let me know.

British Brown Ale Nut Brown AG

I did use Nottingham for this batch. It was a single dry satchel. Fermentation started within a day and was vigorous for 2-3 days. As this was my first all-grain, I look forward to making this again without the n00b mistakes. I've read through the post and seen some of the tweaks you've made...

British Brown Ale Nut Brown AG

Not sure of OP still hangs out on this thread, but I am in their debt. Just poured my first pint of this and its amazing. This was my first all-grain brew and will be a regular in my lineup.

    Witbier Largaarden Belgian Wit

I wanted to update the thread. The gunk issue was certainly a problem. After a week on the gas, I couldn't get anything out of the faucet. I had to transfer from the conditioning keg to another and leave about a gallon behind. But, it pours now and is well carbonated and refreshing. Thanks...

Now I'm wondering how to rack out of the bucket and into a keg. Either way, I'll let you know.

Wow. That much gunk at the bottom? I wonder if there’ll be anything I’ll get to drink! Lol! I haven’t gotten into harvesting yeast yet. I want to move to all grain, then learn to mess with water. THEN I’ll look at saving yeast.

    Witbier Largaarden Belgian Wit

I used the second recipe that used 4.75lbs of DME and 5lbs of flaked additions. I, too, was very surprised at the OG and was left wondering if the "thickness" of the wort was keeping the hydrometer afloat in addition to the sugars. I used WY3944, and it's chugging away as we chat. Again, I'm...

I misunderstood the directions. I'll be sure to give this another go and do it the right way.

Many thanks! I got this response in another forum and wonder what you think: This leads me to believe the all-grain version of this beer will always be better.

Gave the extract version a go today. I must have messed something up as I ended up with 4.5 gal with an OG of 1.070. I'll keep an eye on fermentation, particularly over the next few days to see if I need to get another yeast pack.

    Gotcha! Thanks!

    Weissbier Paulaner-style Hefe Weizen

Hey OP! I hope I can reach you here even though the thread is a bit old. I am interested in why you pulled the 5 cups of wort out only to put back during fermentation? Was it to spur more active fermentation by adding more sugars?

Thanks so much, Larry! I really appreciate all the work you do to share with the community. You're awesome.

Ugh! My sincere apologies. I use Beersmith and was targeting the SRM and not noticing the grain bill percentages. (Please accept my apologies for not using your spreadsheet. My access to Excel has been temporarily removed.) What do you think of this adjustment? Steep: 1.0lbs Flaked Oats 4.0lbs...
