    So who's brewing this weekend?

I brewed a Brown Porter yesterday. I’ve never used brown malt before. I was surprised how much it smelled like coffee.

    Modelo?

I like to go to one of the specialty beverage stores around where I live that sells beer by the bottle. You can put together your own 6 pack etc. Then I just buy one of several types of beers that I want to try. Then if I don't like it, I only have one to choke down. My only concern is that...

    DuoTight 3 way

I had to do a double take on this title. Thankfully we’re just talking about beer line connectors. 🤣

    Verdant in American/West Coast IPA?

I just used Verdant in a West Coast Session IPA - Pale Ale malt with Vienna, Munich, C-20, El Dorado & Mosaic hops. I got 81% AA - 4.5% ABV. I tapped it last night for the first time & loved it. Nice tropical fruit notes.

    Possible PET Oxebar setup

It looks like the Kegco mini regulator that I have was made for the 5/8” UNF cartridges. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B079F5Z4N6?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

    Possible PET Oxebar setup

I have a Kegco mini regulator similar to the one pictured here that uses 74g CO2 cartridges. Do you know where I could buy an adapter to use Sodastream canisters? I found one at Amazon but several people said the gasket blew after a few uses. Thanks.

    Malt color and taste illustration

I LOVE this article! Thanks for posting it. I have saved it and will get a lot of use out of it. One thing really bugs me though, and that is that herbaceous is in the floral aroma section and not the herb section. WTF! Herbaceous literally means relating to herbs. So to me, herbaceous, dired...

    Actual slug in my fermenter

LMAO! This is the best comment I've seen on here in months!

    Lager yeast question

LMAO! I loved that. This reminds me of something I said in a homebrewing Facebook group. A guy asked if it would be too weird to use Vienna Malt in a Pale Ale. I replied, "You are asking if using an actual brewing malt would be weird when people are mashing kid's cereal? WTF!"

    Simplifying brewing

The absolute beauty of home brewing is....You do you! Nobody else's opinion of your beer matters. I looked at someone who posted about brewing a jalapeno strawberry Kolsch and was grossed out at first but then thought, this is EXACTLY why we home brew. I did the same things that you posted above...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I'm going to brew my first lager this week, an International Pale Lager. Probably mid-week actually. I'm off of work and can spend all day if I want. I'm so busy on weekends that I usually brew during the week in the evenings after work. So, now I can finally take my time.

    How do you buy grain?

I think it depends on your situation. For me, I don't think it would make sense to buy in bulk. I only brew about 6 batches a year and they're all radically different styles of beer. I might not use the same specialty grain again for another couple years in some cases. On the other hand, if...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I was hoping to be brewing my first all-grain Ordinary Bitter but the USPS lost my shipment of ingredients. Thankfully BrewHardware is going to replace my order so now I'll have to wait until next weekend.

Iittala beer glasses - are the best!

I have a small collection of several types of beer glasses each for different styles of beer. The tulip glasses were a Christmas present and the rest I got from second hand stores for about $2 each.

Scratching fermentor leads to infection: True or not?

For what it's worth, PET plastic carboys are made out of a harder material than the HDPE plastic buckets and thus a bit more scratch resistant. However, I have had a HDPE bottling bucket for over 30 years and no scratches so far. The beer is only in there for 15 minutes or so at a time, but no...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I’m brewing an Irish Dry Stout. I love having that on tap going into fall.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I waiting for my shipment from RiteBrew. It is for a Belgian Witbier Session - 4% ABV with elements from both the Belgian & American versions so I’m calling it Wit Bastard.

    Munich DME

This is probably an educated guess too. Otherwise, I have no idea how they would know. It’s a proprietary blend. But this is the most detailed thing I’ve seen on Amber DME contents. Malt Profiles

    Munich DME

Sparkling Amber DME – 10°L (Breiss) 1.043 10 A proprietary blend of base (90%), Munich 10L (5%), and Caramel 60L (5%) malts. Amber color and malty flavor with caramelly overtones. - I found this info last year when making an Oktoberfest batch. I have since switched to a partial mash when using...

    Schwarzbier dark malt percentage?

Just for fun I looked up brewing with potatoes - Brewing with Potatoes - Brew Your Own . I don’t think I’ll be trying that anytime soon. But, maybe others have had good luck with that. I would make a joke about salad beer but that’s probably already a thing somewhere.
