Insulating keezer collar - best options

In one of the keezers I made with a friend we used two layers of 1X4 as it was what we had on hand. I think that this help when attaching the shanks vs just one inch collar. the wood is a fine insulator in my book.

    Boil Kettle False Bottom, anyone??

I've always use a false bottom with my single infusion system. 1 keggle and 1 mash tun. I almost always use whole hops to help strain the trub at the end of the boil. It seems to work well. However, since I have been using a counter current chiller I also use a hop back every time and my...

    Need advice :) First Beer

RDWHAHB! When I used iodine for sterilizing I rinsed with HOT water from the water faucet and bottled with the bottles wet. It will be fine! It always came out well. You might want to avoid clear and green bottles to put your beer in. It is my understanding that light affects your beer...

A question about making wort to use for starter

I’ve been boiling DME for years to make my starter. It occurred to me that I could just make a batch of wort and bottle it for future use with starter and save a lot of time. Does anyone have experience with this? I usually make a 2 liter starter for 10 gallon batches. I suppose champagne...

    Mice in brewhouse

Mice are a regular problem in my brew shop in the country. I keep my grains in sealed mouse proof buckets and have traps EVERYWHERE! After using my grainmill I use the shopvac. This seems to keep the little buggers at bay! When I do have a problem I bleach the crap out of everything. I...

Looking for the "Perfect" Craft Brew Pub in London

LOL! Sorry! It was my first trip to London. This one was near the Churchill bunker museum and it was reported that it was one that he frequented. That's the best I can do. It was a very comfortable place with great pies. As I recall the main beers on tap there were a selection of Fullers...

Looking for the "Perfect" Craft Brew Pub in London

It probably is a bit boring as a standard lager! I guess that is what my taste buds were into that night. But for me, a nice clean tasting lager can be refreshing! I'm willing to give it another try and see if I despise it! Are you interested in sponsoring another brew trip to London...
