The wine turned out well but there was only a small hint of the coffee. Next time I'll use more coffee bags and steep for a bit longer. Maybe add it to the secondary instead of the primary.
I have been brewing mead and beer for about 2 years now so I'm not a total noob when it comes to brewing but I do have a couple of questions:
1 - I bought cider from Walmart and it was cloudy as crap but had a great apple flavor. Is there any hope of this clearing up? If not it's no biggie...
I made a strawberry mead last year and used 12 lbs of berries. It had a very weak flavor. My next batch will use 24 lbs. I suggest (for a 5-gallon batch) using 15 lbs of honey and 24 lbs of berries. Maybe use 12 lbs in the primary and the other 12 lbs in the secondary for more fruit flavor...
How much coffee did you add? How much ground beans to how much water? What size was the batch? Coconut? was that an extract or juice? how much? Jeez Man! I'm a noob at this and need some guidance. A recipe would be good...
Seriously, though: I really don't want the Wife to nag me about "Why...
I'm a noob, too.
Richmond,VA. here. I'm also looking to join a brewing club
I only have a 3-gal batch of mead and 3-gal batch of wine. I'm so new I'm not sure if the stuff I made is even drinkable! We'll find out in about 6 months, though. :D
Has anyone tried to add coffee? I was thinking about adding a few ounces of really strong coffee to a 3-gallon batch during secondary. Any Ideas or warnings?
Is there a reason you added the bananas to the secondary instead of the primary?
Why add yeast and nutrient in stages? Why not add the yeast all at once?
I guess I can add 1/2 of the Strawberries in the primary and the second 1/2 in the secondary? Would this give a stronger strawberry...
