    Glad to hear it! :)

    Lemon-Ginger Mead and Lime-Ginger Mead

Not much: 1 lb, 4 oz. It was a pretty arbitrary decision based on "I feel like it should be more than a mere 7 oz." and "oh look, here's a bottle of honey I should finish off that's more than 7 oz." The last taste was pretty bland, but temperature control is always a struggle for me, and this...

    Lemon-Ginger Mead and Lime-Ginger Mead

They're in a cabinet at ~75ºF right now. Temperature control is a difficult thing here in the RV, but I'm working on it. May throw a bag of ice in the cabinet with them or something. <70ºF, you say, eh? I'll see what I can make happen... And thanks for the calculator link, looks like a good one!

    Lemon-Ginger Mead and Lime-Ginger Mead

Day 2: Yeast is definitely doing it's job, but it's being calm about it. Went ahead and topped, then took a sample for hydrometer: - Lemon-ginger: 1.104 sp.gr. (1.100 @ 86ºF) - Lime-ginger: 1.106 sp.gr. (1.104 @ 77ºF) Wondering if I can estimate ABV based on the info I've got and FG...

    Lemon-Ginger Mead and Lime-Ginger Mead

Made some mead today based on Mr. Nice Guy's recipe (https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f30/check-out-my-lemon-ginger-mead-recipe-100638/). I did two 1-gallon batches, one using lemon and one substituting lime for lemon. I did the tea a little differently, essentially preparing a normal cup of tea...

Check out my Lemon-Ginger Mead Recipe...

Any update on this? Sounds like a simple and tasty recipe to try! ...just wondering about the taste.

    Dandelion Metheglin

Wondering the same, myself. Missed out on the dandelion crop last year, but I've rejuvenated my mead-brewing, so hope to harvest dandelions for this mead this spring as they start popping up. --R

    JOAM tanginess

That'll be good to keep in mind. Anything to do but re-bottle in a couple weeks/month?

    Reusing plastic juice jugs

What do you consider a "long" fermentation. So far for me, I've just to JOAM...fermenting 3 or 4 months. Is that "long", or am I not causing too many problems (yet) by using plastic? --R

    Reusing plastic juice jugs

Likewise. Hadn't thought of that. Nice! I've kind of enjoyed the smaller batches for experimentation purposes, too. I've found that 1 gallon may be a bit tiny for that, though, so am bumping up to 2.5-gallon jugs. Still not planning on re-using them after I've done a batch. --R

    Reusing plastic juice jugs

Pretty new to this, and have started by brewing a couple batches of mead. So far, I've done so in gallon plastic water bottles (same material and shape as your standard milk jug). Seems like everything has come out okay, though the connoisseurs may beg to differ. I'm ready to bump things up a...

    Dandelion Metheglin

Looks amazing and sounds like it will be very tasty. I'm going to have to start picking some dandelions and follow your footsteps when I'm able to gather enough. Thanks for posting all the details...will be very helpful when I look to setting up my own! --R

Moving... what do to with the mead?

I'm rather new to the world of mead, but I'm also always moving. As a matter of fact, my full-time home has wheels and I drive it to the new jobsite every 2-4 weeks. And my mead sits inside my home whilst I drive it. Again, I'm pretty new to this homebrewing thing, and so far have bottled 2...

    JOAM tanginess

There's a fair chance that the cold stunted the yeast at least a little bit, but they also had 4 months to do their thing, so I would think they did a complete job. It's clear, anyway. With any luck, I will not only remain undead and unsick, but also in a pleasant mead-y haze. :)

    JOAM tanginess

Nope, didn't do any racking. Went with JOAM because it was soooo simple and I'm just getting my feet wet so far. I'll work into the stuff that requires more attention as I go, but I've really enjoyed the flavors just in the super basic stuff so far. We'll see how it goes as it mellows in the...

    JOAM tanginess

Good to know about the carbonation. It really is hardly noticeable, but seems to be there. I look forward to savoring these in a few months and seeing how they change. --R

    Airlock question. HELP!

Just happened upon this post, but lots of good info. Thanks, all! --R

    JOAM tanginess

I'm pretty new to mead, and brewing in general. I don't have an ideal situation for brewing, either: I live in an RV, moving from place to place for my job every 2-4 weeks. Still, I did two separate gallons of JOAM last fall (substituting half a grapefruit for the orange in the second gallon)...
