Will Peat Smoked Malt flavor fade with age?

I made a wee heavy last year and couldnt notice any flavor from the peat... so this year i adjusted it slightly and now its way too overbearing. Will it age out (or down a bit?) or will my best bet to make a mellow scottish ale and mix? Or just drink it and shut up

Fly Sparge with pump on 2 tier issues

So i have a two tier pump, HLT and MLT on top, boil kettle on bottom. I use my pump to sparge and gravity drain to kettle... i've had an issue lately where when i cut back my valve on the pump going to the MLT to a slow trickle after a few minutes the pump stops pumping the water. This sucks...

I'm going to visit a friend who recently had a baby in SF in may with SWMBO. My Free (is relative) brew stand!

So i had a friend over one day when i was brewing and he saw my ghetto gravity set up and laughed. I explained to him how i can't afford a fancy schmancy stand and showed him a few of them out there. Well fast forward a week or two and he asks me for some dimensions, he has scrap and will make...

    sparge with cooler lid on

So, i think i may just be failing to see how this work, but here it goes, you can laugh if its easy. I had a sparge arm given to me, but it is near impossible to use on 5gal batches because the water runs too slow... also the cooler lid is off, so i'm losing all kinds of heat. I want to go...

Ok, so i'm doing a bourbon porter. The porter is in the primary and 4oz of medium oak chips are soaking in Makers Mark. The aim is to soak the chips for 2 weeks or so. 1) My question comes in with the secondary, and searching throughout the forum i could never get a consensus answer. When i...

    New member/AG from Philly Burbs

Hey, been lurking a while and finally joined prior to the jump to AG. I've been brewing extract for a bit and decided to take the plunge and go AG about 3-4 months ago... and now have completely geeked out on it and have gone from "just brew" to analyzing my water profile, etc. I was mostly...

    How is the Italian Kettle?

I'm just starting to get into brewing and trying to get a setup going. Right now i'm basically just looking at 5 gallon batches and not sure if i am going to step up to something higher, i do know that I will most likely be going all grain so i want the extra room in the kettle. That being...
