    German Leichtbier Otto's Mustache

Got the freight train rolling on this today. Liberty hops at 60, 10 and F/O. Smells delightful, and I'm in to it for only $15/10 gal. Unlike @AzOr , neither keg will survive two months aging around here.

How many styles of beer do you have

I serve four kegs, and on scant occassion I'll bottle off a keg for whatever reason. In addition to the serving kegs, I try to keep one or two regular beers kegged and ready to swap as well as all (1-3) of my barrel aged beers kegged as well. On top of that, I try to have 1-2 beers in...

    Corny Keg Showdown

For true! I got a lot of used kegs where one liquid line was too long for that keg and got flared at the bottom when it was compressed. Cutting that off with a dremel by feel to remove it was quite an adventure.

    Fishing!

Is it really an accomplishment to just reach in there and grab a sturgeon or two?? I jest. Nice fish!

Doubling batch size, losing hoppyness and ibus

"The 15 g hdpe Container was opened twice to check progress. And again to add priming sugar." If I was to point to any one thing - I'd say that 5 gallons of empty headspace on a vessel opened more than once would be it.

Have you ever failed with stabilization?

Unless it's obviously changed, I'd be skeptical that sorbate has gone bad. Numerous things affect the ability of stabilizers to do their job. For example, K-Meta is really pH dependant. So there may just be a good chance that your wine needs a slightly higher dose for the effect you are...

    Random Drunken Thoughts Thread

Every month I ponder why our club meetings are on a Wednesday night. Then through a little fog I recall some Saturday night meetings that involved pickled fish, cigars, trolling Craigslist guys offering free nude photoshoots, and seeing the dawning of a new day. Yeah - Wednesdays are an...

An appeal to Northeast U.S. Homebrewers

I am quite jealous of those who can call you their LHBS.

    German Leichtbier Otto's Mustache

I'm on a kick of lower ABV beers, and was noticing the lack of German lagers that fit the bill. Glad to see that it's doable. Will probably spin this one up this weekend.

are laundromats really that big a thing in the US?

It's six hours a week I don't have to listen to the dryer drone on. and it saves a quarter!

Keg Post Leaking Where it Joins the Keg Body?

Without seeing the video, I can tell you that you are probably not crazy. There are numerous variants in keg post dimensions. It's possible for a slightly different style post to bottom out on the keg top before sealing the diptube/gasket. If such were aggressively tightened, it could crack...

how about a meme generator thread...

I haven't seen an XKCD on here in a while.

what does the pbw powder taste like?

Either we got trolled, or you found two baggies of dextrose. The PBW tastes fishy, soapy, and gets stuck in your teeth. Frankly, hard to miss.

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

Our brewing club has an annual group experiment where everybody brews the same base recipe but with one specific aspect that everyone has to do differently. This year the different aspect is sugar. The assumption was a saison as the base recipe, but I'd like to propose something English, as...

    bagel hack

I can totally relate to this - but with still-warm cheese curds. Big package for the family, little package for me!

    bagel hack

I'm 99% sure I've never experienced a bagel as has been described here. I just know that my bagel's primary directive is to convey at least 1/4 block of cream cheese into my gullet.

    brew competitions

This wasn't the Headbutt perchance? I had the same thought as they announced the Golden Ale category and I eventually realized that the lagers got swept in there as well. I believe what gets lumped together varies by entry numbers in the categories, so may change year to year based on what...

    Hop Suppliers

I get the older hops from HopsDirect because I'm simple and cheap. A yearly purchase of 6-8lbs of hops at $0.35-0.50/oz shipped usually does me nicely. Of course I finally had to breakdown to buy my first packs of Citra and Mosaic from YVH for a NEIPA this spring. Otherwise grains and yeast...

    Random Drunken Thoughts Thread

I'm not surprised. The malt bill is a rounding error compared to the hop additions. And more malt means more hops which means MOAR FLAVOR which means HUGE SALES NUMBERS! right?
