Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

GM coming to market with >300 miles range for $35K. https://insideevs.com/news/720117/gm-equinox-affordable-tech-preview/

    Love Golf?

Plus there is a rule that can be invoked if you miss your tee time due to "extraordinary circumstances" that can be invoked to avoid the DQ. There was some speculation that it might happen yesterday morning, but due to the weather delay and him being released quickly, he got back to the course...

Not the mugshot I expected to wake up to this morning 😂

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

This is when/how people overstate what we're capable of with "AI". Tesla was promising 1M robotaxis on the road in 2020. Didn't happen. Musk as recently as Jul 2023 was stating that he thought Tesla would reach L4 or L5 perhaps as soon as the end of the year--it's May 2024 and it still looks to...

What book is on your nightstand? Readers!

Not necessarily to quote myself here, but book 9 drops on Jun 1. Highly recommend this series.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

As ridiculous as it might sound, the bar to be cleared isn't that FSD be safer than average human drivers. After all, 90% of humans are above-average drivers, if you ask them. 😂 You have to remember that if you crash, it's your fault. If your car crashes while on Autopilot, it's Tesla's...

What book is on your nightstand? Readers!

Interesting... The prequel book and the first book for the Janus Group are free for Kindle... ...that's how they get ya! 😂 Alright, with that I've got three (or more like 2.25) books queued.

Thanks @estricklin -- yeah, I've read Project Hail Mary. I'll look into those others.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Yep. And add in that I can be >0.08 in the front left seat with ZERO legal risk.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

This is where I am. I actually think Autopilot is pretty capable. But it's not full L5 autonomy. It's high-end L2 or low-end L3 as I understand it. Which might still be safer than human drivers, but it's not L5. L5 is when we're talking society-changing capability. And I'm not sure Tesla is on...

Thanks. Need something for the plane and possibly the hotel as I'm headed to Kauai next week. Just ordered this for the Kindle. Anything else by Clines that you recommend if I like this, i.e. perhaps his seminal or most popular work? Any other good sci-fi you've read recently?

    Love Golf?

Well look what just showed up... Actually not sure whether it's going to work or not. It's just so inexpensive (and Costco has their great return policy) that I think it's worth a try. My driver is a Ping G25, so it's a decade old at this point. My son's is a Taylormade R7, so it's probably...

New grill to augment others---gasser or Blackstone griddle?

Is grapeseed oil high enough? It seems like it's pretty near the top of the list for smoke points for "cooking oils", but I don't know if there's something even higher that will work better. It's one that I regularly keep on hand, so it would be convenient if it's high enough.

New grill to augment others---gasser or Blackstone griddle?

Thanks to everyone for the recs. My wife decided to make it an early b-day present, so we got the Blackstone Friday night. We wanted to jump on it because it's selling at Costco for nearly $100 less than anywhere else and we were worried that if we waited until July they might not be carrying...

A few that I've read recently: Predictably Irrational, by Dan Ariely. This is one that will appeal to the economics/psychology geeks out there. A lot of economic theory rests on the idea that we are all rational actors, making decisions about all sorts of things based on a solid cost/benefit...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

I don't understand much about what Musk does, nor why people seem to value TSLA so highly. The below is something I put together just shy of 2 weeks ago, so the numbers are likely a little off now. Let's take a look at a couple stocks and their 12-month forward PE ratio: Tesla / TSLA 62.9...

    Homebrewtalk Peloton

Good stuff! I've been off the upper body strength classes for a while as I did something to my shoulder when I was traveling to Indianapolis a few weeks ago. It seems almost 100% resolved so I'll be going back to that soon. I've also been trying to do some more dedicated glutes & legs...
