    Aging your brew?.?.?.?.

good info..... The pressurizing in the keg to ensure a good seal.. that is good advice, and I agree with you. Same with you jaded... if it is a "big" beer, let it sit a little longer. I think you guys helped me out a lot. I kegged my 1st beer about 2 hours ago. I am totally stoked to...

    Aging your brew?.?.?.?.

I understand that aging and priming do not go hand in hand....... I was just looking at my options with the keg after some other posts I have read. I want to stay away from priming due to the sediment issue. So I guess either leave the brew in the carboy a few extra weeks (at a cooler...

    Aging your brew?.?.?.?.

What method(s) do use to "age" your keg beer? Does aging a beer at a cooler temp (in the keg prior to gas) make a difference compared to room temp with no gas. Didn't know if I should let it sit in the carboy for a few extra weeks, then keg or bulk prime in the keg and let it sit to age...

Kegging my 1st batch on Thursday!!!!! Need advice

Any tips??? I have the basics down-- clean, sanitize, fill 'er up, but some pressure to check for leaks, let 'er sit for a week at 10 PSI.... Guess we will see the outcome. I am kind of in a pinch. I have my brother-in-law visiting in a week and a half. I told him we would have a good...

do you "prime" your keg beer???

Thanks for the advice. I didn't totally understand why to "prime" if you were going to hook up and force carb. Guess I didn't understand all the details (I am a NooB again).... So if you prime it is "more ready" to drink when you hook the gas up to it. How long do you have to let it sit at...

do you "prime" your keg beer???

I will be kegging my first batch soon and I was curious.......... Do I have to prime it with corn sugar prior to kegging it? I wouldn't think so, since it is force carbed with Co2. I read in a homebrew catalog that you should prime it, but with considerably less sugar. Just want to get...

    What spices and how much????

I am brewing a "spice" ale tomorrow and I am not sure what spices to use. I was thinking cinnamon and nutmeg but I really don't know. I have heard pumpkin pie spice works well. Any advice on what spices, how much to use, and when to add..... I am guessing the last 15 minutes of the boil is...

Pumpkin Ale--- Need help with spices

Gonna brew up a pumpkin ale as my next batch and I need some help...... I plan to use American 2-row and not sure on the hops yet but my question is, How to spice it? I have read about using pumpkin pie spice. Anyone used this? I would rather not use canned pumpkin due to the "waste" and...

    I hate my job. . .

Uncle Sam owns me (US Air Force)..... So I know all about to much work and getting jerked around with shifts. After 9 years I have come to expect it. Doesn't make it easier but I guess it is "easier" to accept when they jerk my chain. Once again..... The government dictating someones life!!

    "Natural Flavors"--- is that ok???

Getting ready to make a 2nd batch of Apfelwein but I was going to use "Apple Berry" juice. All the juice is from concentrate but it has "natural flavors". Will this be ok? I don't see any problems with this juice but I am no expert. What do you folks think??

What's the difference between a PM and steeping grains?

What are the differences between these processes? I have done both but they really seem about the same to me. What does a higher or lower Mash temp do? More sugars?.?.? or less?.?.?. I have been staying around 150-155 for my PM. Is mashing more effective than steeping?

    BEST homebrew to date!!!!

Only have 5 batches under my belt but I think I just drank "my best" so far. I brewed "Arrogant Ale" named after the LHBS owner that was very arrogant and a prick when I was there. I asked for a light American Ale with lots of hops and he put this recipe together on a whim and it is very...

    92% attenuation!

I made a belgian honey ale that started around 1.058 and finished at 1.008. It was dryer than I was looking for but it has "smoothed" out some since it has been bottled. Been in the bottle for about a month now and it is good but still a little dryer than I was shooting for. Still very...
