Originally developed in England, this hop quickly became established both in the Hallertau in Germany (see Hallertau Northern Brewer) and, later, in the United States (see Northern Brewer (American)). It is no longer grown in the U.K. in significant amounts, and some hops sold as "Northern Brewer" are actually Northdown.
