I appreciate iterative design - and "fly it and see what happens" seat of the pants stuff (often just for public consumption) - and found this launch to be highly interesting from many aspects. Obviously there were improvements over prior launches, but just as clearly there's a long row to hoe...

Are you on a municipal or commercial water supply that might be intermittently injecting low levels of chloramine - which allegedly works for both chlorine and chloramine? It might be revealing to do a batch using RO or DI water from the store...

Lots of folks have mash tuns with similar rubber tubing. My first 10 gallon Rubbermaid did and I managed to never knock it loose. Never worried about breaking it as it was braided high temperature Tygon, not silicone. Might consider using that... Cheers!

I believe @Bobby_M still offers custom SS dip tube production, I've been using one he did for me for years, all you need is a diagram. But, is it worth it? Only if it's easy to implement and deal with wrt disassembly for cleaning, etc. Otherwise there's no compelling reason to avoid the short...
