Closed pressure transfer from a plastic fermentation bucket

Hey all, I am just getting into kegging and I’m brainstorming ways to perform a closed transfer from my plastic fermentation bucket to a keg. I don’t have a ton of space so using one of my kegs to ferment will limit my batch size and how many beers I can have on tap at a time. I purchased...

How much is a safe maximum to ferment in 5 gal bucket

Up until now I've been doing small 1 gal batches in carboys with stopper and blow off tube. I want to make a batch of my IPA to be ready in time for superbowl so I gotta get cracking. All I have on hand is a standard 5 gal Home Depot bucket + lid so I was going to DIY a stopper/blowoff in it...

    Fermenter qualitiy question

Hello. I am a fairly new brewer, this will be my first time using a food grade bucket and hops. My question is regarding the quality of the food grade bucket. I got them for free from my place of employment which is a Japanese restaurant. The buckets smell of soy sauce, and it seems impossible...

    Plastic Buckets OK?

Q: I have used food grade plastic buckets in my home brewing adventures in the past (for fermenting and bottling). However, does anybody know if it is ok to use a normal 5 gallon plastic bucket in brewing? I will be using it for sparging. In other words, I will be filling the plastic bucket with...

Using Bottling Bucket to Ferment and Fermenting Bucket to Bottle?

I just watched the Alton Brown home brewing episode (see: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/alton-brown-homebrew-you-tube-46677/). He does so many things wrong, but one thing I thought was interesting was his choice (maybe not intentionally) to use the bottling bucket to ferment the beer. After...
