If near Ann Arbor check out the Ann Arbor Brewers Guild, bunch of us having been making mead for years. Most large homebrew clubs have at least one mead person :)

I make 4.5 gallons of mead during bigbrew and shared a bunch of bottled mead to show people what it is and that it isn't as exotic as most people thing... :)
I like to use things such as tart cherry juice concentrate, and some whole cherries, more fluid in the fermentor, and no complaints about flavor so far...
