Not sure if this is right pace for this. I apologize if not. I know Cadillac Straits exchange bottles but I have two brand new shiny ones so I would prefer to fill them up. Since AHB closed last year I have no place. Anyone knows where I can take a 5lbs bottle for quick CO2 fill up around...
I use the red bottles and oxygenate for one minute with an oxygenation stone. I watch for bubbles in the beer without too much reaching the top (waste). The bottle las 15 to 20 batches of 5 gallons. Other than providing good O2 my main reason is not to bother shaking a heavy glass carboy.
I'll need to check Cadillac Straights. It may be my new local option. And having tap beer and food would make it a very easy choice to make me go there from Canton. I see they have competitive prices too. All good :)
I just found out about this today when I called to check why my order was taking so long when usually I got it in 2 days. So sad. It was 30min from home and most of the time I would drive there to patronize plus their prices were good. Knew the people by name. Was nice to buy fresh liquid yeast...
I had two Taprites fail before 2 years used inside keezer. Don’t recommend them for that. Last one I got is a Harris but using it outside. Will see. Has 7 yr warranty vs the 1 yr of the other.
I bought a 5 gal pot and it holds 5 gal if filled to the top edge. So most you could boil is I guess around 3 gal on it. If you are planning to do 5 gal batches then you will need at least a 7+ gal boil kettle.
I think this last paragraph is what tells the truth about a lot of the brewing practices. Each one decides how far they want to go to get the beer they like;-)
