    Extract after AG?

I've been brewing for a few years now, and I started with extract, done a BIAB, and just did my first partial mash a couple of weeks ago. The only thing I haven't liked about the extract kits I've done is the inconsistency in the finished product. Some have been awesome, and some I've had...

    Cream Ale

Can you please share your recipes for both?

American Pale Ale 15 Minute Cascade Pale Ale

I agree that this is a great recipe for a quick and simple brewday. I've brewed 2 batches of this with amarillo hops (that's what I had around), and both have turned out awesome. It's also a quick drinker. No extended aging necessary.

    Favorite Extract Kit/Recipe

I've bought kits from Autin's and Midwest. Both places are excellent in terms of ingredients and selection. I would recommend either.

Curious about cost saving and what got you started

I think that when most of us get into this hobby, we convince ourselves that one of the reasons for doing it is to save money. You quickly find out that you don't even care about saving money, just making the beer that you love to drink.

    New to brewing....using coopers kit

Just a general rule of thumb that I go by is: 3 weeks primary fermentation 3 weeks in the bottle

    "Brew-in-a-bag"

I tried this with an 11 pound grainbill, and you definitley need a bigger pot. I had water spilling over the side.

    No Fermentation.

I thought it was the beginnings of Krausen, but then I noticed that it started looking greyish in color, and when I took the airlock off to take a reading, it's starting to smell not so pleasant.

    No Fermentation.

I made an Austin's Oatmeal Stout on Sat, and pitched a White Labs English Ale yeast. All my temps were in range and sanitization was done to everything touching the wort after boil. It's been three days with no activity. Just took a reading. Gravity is still 1.053 (the same as my SG on Sat.)...

    Brew in a Bag question

So for the 11 lb grainbill that this recipe calls for, I would calculate: 1.5*11=16.5 qts, or 4.13 gallons Am I doing the calc wrong? That seems like a low volume of water. Would I have to add after the mash, to get the preboil volume up to around 7 gallons or so?

    Brew in a Bag question

One other question. How much water should I start with? Is the calc for BIAB different than regular AG?

    Brew in a Bag question

Hi folks. Need a little help here. Taking a baby step into All-Grain by making Yoop's Pale Ale. Can anyone take a look at her recipe below and see if I need to make any adjustments. Thanks Da Yooper's House Pale Ale...

American Pale Ale Da Yooper's House Pale Ale

Yoop, I was thinking of doing this using the Brew in a Bag method. Any suggestions that may stray from normal All Grain methods?
