Clean 12 and 16 oz bottles for bottling, you just need to come get them in CT

There's at least two or three more cases of 12oz bottles in the basement as well, so maybe closer to 5-6 cases of 12 oz bottles, the smaller boxes contain 16oz swing top bottles.

Clean 12 and 16 oz bottles for bottling, you just need to come get them in CT

I'm moving and can't take the bottles with me. I have at least several cases of 12oz bottles that are free for the taking, you just need to come get them. I also have a number of clean 16oz swing top bottles as well. I'm located in Middletown CT. Message me if you would like to come and get...

    First beer is a success!

Congrats on the first brew! I think the hardest thing I ever had to learn was that as eager as I was sample my first brew after the first week, then second week, etc... I've always found for me (YMMV) is that I bottle age anything for a minimum of a month (30 days) before I sample it... But...

    When to bottle?

This is one of the best examples I've ever seen about giving beer the proper time to age and condition in the bottle. Granted, some will take a little longer or others a little less, but it really is a great example... Long and short, if I bottle condition with priming, I always wait 30 days...

Had A Bottle Bomb what do I do now?

One thing a LHBS taught me in regards to infections being in bottles, hold the bottle up to the like and tilt it slightly. If there's a ring of "muck" forming inside the neck, then there's a good chance that the beer in that bottle is infected (the ring is made by the stuff growing in the...

Mid Hudson Valley, CT Round# ??? When is the next one?

Just got a grain mill and was wondering how often you guys around the eastern parts of the country do a buy or when the next one may be planned? Are we talking October? Just curious, thanks!

    Don't Do That.

I'll bet it smelled awesome while vacuum sealing all those! :)

My worst brew day yet, what's yours?

My "worst" day came actually recently and long after the initial brew, I had recently racked my Octoberfest in my basement to a secondary for longer term storage, put the air-lock in, and moved it temporarily to where I wanted in the basement... I then went down stairs a couple of days later to...

    Infected or not infected?

I have two brews I did at the same time and in new buckets (cleaned and sanitized at that time) and they've been in there for a couple of months. Just took a peek today an saw this... Belgian Amber Clone, I think it's okay, maybe just floaters and off gassing from moving the fermenter in the...

Anyone have a clone recipie for Palm Belgain Session Ale?

I'm looking to try and reproduce this particular brand/beer before they possibly stop producing it (at least that's what my neighbor who introduced me to it told me). Had anyone found a good clone recipie for this?

    Soured fermenter

What solution concentration on the bleach? I'm starting with a PBW soak to make sure there isn't any left over gunk suck to the side that I'm either not seeing or just didn't get off... Next I'll bomb it with a bleach solution (say 1 cup per 5 gallons?)... Then a good rinse. Someone at the...

    Soured fermenter

I've done a couple of batches since I had an infection in two of my big mouth bubbler fermenters and the last Cream Ale I did has a distinctive "sour" flavor and odor to it, so I think I've "soured" these two fermenters of mine. I've kind of already resigned myself to the fact that I need to...

    adding to beer kits

And if you want a creamy flavor you can always add some lactose (milk sugar) to the batch, lactose can't be fermented so the flavor stays...

My grain bag is crazy moldy

A friend of mine forgot to dry out his BIAB bag after his last brew and last weekend when he went to use it he discovered that it was all moldy too. He boiled his BIAB bag in a Bleach solution then rinsed it out REALLY well, and you almost couldn't tell it had happened... Just rinse it out...

Way to much foam during fermentation.

I always use a food grade silicone additive that prevents not only a blow over but boil over as well (Think Fermcap S). The stuff works wonders and in over a year of brewing and almost a dozen batches, never had a boil over or blow over... And it doesn't affect the flavor of your beer either...

    Question on fermentation

One of the hardest lessons I ever had to learn in home brewing is time... Originally I was bottling after one or two weeks in the fermenter (after confirming with a hydrometer that I've reached FG), now I leave everything in the primary for at least a month. It makes for me a better aged...

    Post your infection

I've used Safale US-05 many times and any yeast raft's I've had usually sunk eventually. I had some stick around a couple of times till I tapped the fermenter and then they decided to sink... After a month I've never really seen large amounts of "floaters"...

    Post your infection

So, you're saying I might get my first gushers... great... Well, I had to screw up at some point, it only took a year :) :mug:
