    Too much yeast?

    yeh that muntons dried yeast is good sh*t man...very active stuff......with all the five gallon kits ive had ive only ever had 1 packet of dried yeast so you used twice as much which is no big deal...next time just be ready with a blow off pipe!:p

    what ive been doing to get every last drop of the precious brew is the last few bottles worth that i used to bin down the drain is bottle it and let the sediment settle after a couple of days is decant to another clean bottle and then add the sugar...there like a few days behind the rest of the...

    it might be worth u getting a secondry fementer with a tap on and banging ur cream ale in it for a week or two then rebottling otherwise when its carbonated the fizz is gonna disturb all the sediment and ur gonna get all clumps in your beer......i ended up gettin a bout half a pint of clear beer...

    i had the same problem............instead of bottling i got a second fementer with the tap quite high up to let all the yeast settle properly b4 i bottled it..........i wasted most of a batch cos of all the seddiment at the bottom of the bottles now there is hardly any through just letting it...

    PET screw top bottles

    what i think he meant was because they are not dark coloured the light can break down the beer giving off flavours and the like even within hours of being bottled so always store them in a dark place for best results

    how long to clear in a keg

    my batch in the keg is still cloudy after 17 days ...........how much longer will it take! .......my other batch of the same lager which i bottled cleared after 4-5 days...its in a king keg top tap so i would have thought it would have started to clear abit seem as its being drawn off from the top!

    yeh im guity as charged...i tend to whack it all in and get it covered as soon as possible rather than having the lid off to long..

    ....yeh last time i threw the malt in it was like a fricking big football size thingy ....me arm are was aching from all the stirring ,it took me ages to get it to dissolve.......this time though ive stuck it in a pan with cold water and stirred it and gonna bring to the boil later b4 i stick it...

    well i tasted a bit of it that was left in the racking cane and it tasted pretty minging b4 it went in the barrel so with these extra hops its gonna be undrinkable..................unless i leave it a few months!:cross:

    .....i boiled some goldings hops for 15mins and added it to a 5 gallon batch of lager that i had already hopped..duh! i blame it on a bad nights sleep

    ............what about boiling 25grams of hops for 15mins and adding it when im adding my priming sugar to the barrel that im using.......would that not be a bad idea! to balance it out a little bit

    ......well i was hoping on something a little stronger than a session beer but not to heavy.......i was gonna add some hops but left them out because this is my 4th attempt at brewing i didnt want to get 2 much out of my depth!

    ......yeh like i say it was just one of them cheap lager kits that come in a 1.8kg tin with a packet of cheap yeast and u just add a bag of sugar and water 2....so i just whacked 2 kg of glucose and a kg of dme instead to boost it
