    Dry hop bag question

Yes. I've been following Scott Janish's work published in his book "The New IPA: Scientific Guide to Hop Aroma and Flavor". I used to do an involved multi-phase dry hopping including a round two days post-pitch, then another or even two more rounds later on. I'm getting the same intensity from...

    Dry hop bag question

For all of 2024 my dry hopping has started with a "soft crash" 2 day temperature drop to 50°F (under light CO2 pressure), add the pellets commando and let it ride for two days (still under light CO2 pressure), then a hard crash to 36°F for 2 days before kegging to fermentation-gas-purged kegs...

    Fermentis D-16

We had a discussion but I don't think anyone had tried D-16 yet... https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/all-in-one-fermentis.731192/ Cheers!

What are you listening to (music!!!) right now? Embarrassing or not... share

When I was young I was a competitive horse rider for many years for a local stable that had a riding camp up in New London NH on Pleasant Lake. At the age of 14 I was already 6' 3" and looked 18, was the go-to person for buying beer amongst my peers. And I was driving the camp's 30 foot horse...

    Corny Keg Showdown

All kinds of vessels are made with 316. I wasn't narrowing the scope of the linked article to just kegs... [edit] And yes, you can find manufacturers using 316 SS to fabricate beer kegs... Cheers!

    Corny Keg Showdown

Ok, but sometimes folks have to use what they have. It appears that 2ppm sodium hypochlorite concentration is acceptable for potable water storage and is below the threshold of concern for 304 and 316 SS... https://www.penflex.com/chloride-chlorine-levels-and-stainless-steel-alloy-selection/...

    Corny Keg Showdown

If 4~5 drops per gallon is too high ppb for SS then one shouldn't even store municipal water in an SS keg... Cheers!

    Storing full kegs

Craig's List is your friend. If you have the space you can fit 5 or even 6 kegs in a 17cf top-freezer fridge. All three of my brewery fridges (17, 20, 23) were $100-$125 buys from CL... Cheers!

Stalled / Very Slow Fermentation with High Gravity Beer

You could play around with a "Yeast Calculator" like this one. It provides a few "pitch rate" options and combined with the other factors will show a recommended pitch and how to get to it given the amount and "creation date" of the yeast on hand. I happen to prefer the 1M cells/ml/°P pitch rate...

    Fishing!

There actually is an Outward Bound organization with a small lodge adjacent to Middle Dam proper, and they take canoes and kayaks down the Rapid to Umbagog Lake and eventually the Androscoggin where they pull out. I have put my canoes in at Pond In The River - in the first map image it's just...

    Fishing!

The only approaches that make it to Middledam are from 16 to the NW, and once you leave 16 it's packed dirt regardless of how one tries to get to Middle. And there's a gate a good couple miles from Lakewood on the best road which leaves 16 up in Marston Mills. The original Carry Road doesn't...

Lakewood Camps. My dad and I stayed there a few times over the years, back when the owners were Sue and Stan Milton. I think my last stay there was in 1999. After that I met a coworker at DEC who owned a camp just west of Errol on Little Akers Pond and we would drive in to a point just south of...

DIY tower cooling using existing fan

I suspect trying to use the evaporator fan to drive a tower cooler won't have much success, but there's certainly no harm in trying. I know that some Bev Air kegerators did that though I don't recall reading how well they worked. If it doesn't work, a good tower cooler actually will. Just need...
