    Whirlpool and cone...

Yeah, there didn't appear to ever be a cone at all... just break material across the entire bottom of pot... it stayed firm enough though that only the first bit around the pickup came out at first and it all stayed in place until the wort was down to the same level as the trub...

    Whirlpool and cone...

Maybe we used it too early or too much... we used whrilflock at 15 minutes if I remember correctly... but two tablets, reading up it seems 1 is good for a 11g batch...

    Whirlpool and cone...

Use whirlock... and the trub was even throughout the entire bottom of the kettle after the 20 minutes... I'm not sure waiting 30-40 would magically let it be in the center... perhaps waiting less would? I'm not sure. I took the chiller out after it was chilled and whirlpooled for 20 more...

    Whirlpool and cone...

So... just upgraded pots and put in a whirlpool and got a pump and the first brew went pretty good... I skimmed some of hot break at first break, then didn't do anything else... At end of boil, we let it sit for ~20 minutes for hops, removed hops (in bags), whirlpooled and cooled with imersion...

Zeus's rebirth. Non typical, all steam brew stand.

What about the heating elements in the HLT and BK and just running herms?

Zeus's rebirth. Non typical, all steam brew stand.

Looking forward to seeing the steam option completed... but would electric heating elements in the pots not work as good/better than induction?

Building 1st All Grain Rig - Looking for feedback

Depending on the 10G batch, you may have issues with the 10G mash tun... other than that, it looks good... I believe you can also pump the wort into the bottom of the boil kettle vs the top...

    New Pots and Upgrade Paths

That makes sense, but right now I have a 15 and a 20 that I plan to setup as HLT/boil... I was thinking of ordering another 20 to make a mash tun (possible do RIMS with it)... I currently have a 10G cooler for a mash tun which I could keep and use for 5G batches, but would prefer to just use the...

    Bayou Burner Score!

Thanks... picked up a 17 3/4" false bottom w/ feet/handle for $35! I plan to use it in a 20 gallon concord pot (18") with some cut tubing to seal the gap... maybe I should of ordered a second for the boil kettle...

Any thoughts? Another option is to omit the sightglass altogether and just etch the inside with marks...

    New Pots and Upgrade Paths

In regards to the boil pot though... I'm currently thinking about the following arrangement in center down low, 90 degree on inside connected to 3pc valve + camlock, directly above that at top of pot, a camlock going into pot with a 90deg compression fitting on it with downtube (2x sizes to...

    New Pots and Upgrade Paths

Interesting thought... would a 20G be too large (diameter wise) to do 5 gallon batches? I'd assume it'd work for any size 10G batch... Would the 15G work ok for 5 gallon batches? (purely for MT here)... I know the 20G will work for 5 or 10G boils... but may have a bit more evaporation to deal...

    New Pots and Upgrade Paths

I already bought a 20g for boil and 15g for hlt... I'll likely but another 20 for mash or get a larger cooler... Sent from my Nexus 7 using Home Brew mobile app

5/8" BSPP fittings, also John Guest questions

Bevseal ultra from birdman brewing... my only complaint about the stuff... its very rigid. But with a few zip ties you can coil it up smaller... http://www.birdmanbrewing.com/accuflex-bev-seal-ultra-barrier-tubing-3-16-id-100ft-free-shipping/
