Hello,
I am brewing Kombucha since a couple of weeks. I just started a new "line" with green tea. The scoby already started out weird. True first thing to see on the surface before the new scoby grew was a sprinkle of white spots. Now these are still on the baby scoby (it's day 4 now). I have grown scobys so far in black tea, coffee and white tea. They always looked the same: Slick and smooth but nothing like this. I used a pickle glass for this batch in which I had cucumbers. They had lot of white yeasts in the water. Maybe I didn't clean it well enough before use.
I think I will dispose this batch and baby scoby, wash the mother scoby proberly and give it another go with starter liquid from another batch.
This is the odd scoby:
And here's how my scoby usually looks like:
What do you think?
