It depends on how bad the ash and smoke are, how long they are exposed, and how often. Also, how much of it gets into the soil really matters. Where I live in southeastern Washington The hops I had at my home in Malden survived the wildfire with little taste change to them a year later though further north my friend's hops who are exposed heavily every year to smoke and ash from wildfires are deffently different tasting while being the same type.
