    Preferred kegerator cleaning method

Thanks for the tips! I believe the inside of the kegerator is plastic, the base may be a thin layer of stainless. I should have been paying better attention to some of the areas that have grown a bit of mold. Maybe a combo of good scrubbing with some above methods will do the trick.

    Preferred kegerator cleaning method

I plan on taking a short summer break from my brewing pipeline (unless something comes up requiring beer) and I want to give all of my gear a really good deep clean that’s probably a bit overdue. I know PBW for all of my stainless etc but I noticed my kegerator is a bit scuzzy in some spots...

    Jasper yeast Franconian Lager

Oh nice! I’m a bit northwest of DC in Maryland. I should make the drive down there sometime and check out the source. Even at $12 for a pouch I’d say that’s good especially considering wyeast probably has half or less the yeast count. I was really impressed with the Franconian lager yeast, and...

Style suggestions for new nitro tap

I think a pale ale (English or American), amber ale or a brown ale could be tasty

Wanted Wanted to buy - Used cask (pin)

Yeah it was me - realized after I replied that I’m fairly certain I commented on another thread of yours saying that’s what I used. If you go on their site and look at keg products and scroll down they have pins and firkins too. Hopefully they give you a good quote!

Wanted Wanted to buy - Used cask (pin)

Dang that’s a bummer. I can imagine it would be hard to rip through a firkin before it went off too! I would check out g4 kegs. They sell to consumers as well, just have to ask for a quote for a pin. They have them in stock. Got mine from them years back and I would again if I needed another.

I’m sure you’ve checked already but sometimes you can find them on Facebook marketplace or craigslist, at least I’ve seen them before

    Can’t believe I did that

Ha! I’ve seen that thread before it’s full of some crazy, funny and also frightening things.

    Can’t believe I did that

Could’ve been a worse mistake and lesson learned. I just hope it doesn’t cost me my fridge!

    Can’t believe I did that

Brewing a lager, bumped from 52 to 60 for a d rest over a couple days, figured hey I can just shut the mini fridge off and let it come up to mid-60s basement temp on its own. Proceeded to open the fridge door and walk away. Did not unplug the fridge/temp controller. Thing has been running...

    Jasper yeast Franconian Lager

Also at Maryland Homebrew where I get my supplies the pouches are $9.99. You can’t beat the quantity and quality at that price point.

    Jasper yeast Franconian Lager

I really enjoyed the Franconian yeast. Apparently the TUM-35 strain fell out of favor because it had unpredictable performance with the malts of varying quality from yesteryear. It was discovered in a lab freezer in Munich I think I read. I think Jasper is a solid yeast supplier - granted I’ve...

I need to brew an Ordinary Bitter, recipe review

I think it looks solid as is. My only suggestions would be to swap the chocolate for a British pale chocolate since I like that better in a bitter. I’m an EKG fan so I would go all EKG and if you’re not limited to dry yeast I would say go for wyeast1469 West Yorkshire.

Beer engine "cellar" chamber solutions - photos, please

I am tempted to buy a second beer engine now…..Angrams are nice. I like that they’re still in business so you could get replacement parts if needed. My old Higene isn’t made anymore so I have to contact RLBS and hope they have what I need

    Hefeweizen in Brewzilla

That’s a good point, something to definitely consider. Heating to boil already takes a heck of a long time, that’s the only drawback to the 110V system I have. Maybe someday I’ll be able to bump up to 220V but that’s a ways away
