I was previously using a DIY chiller made from a window AC unit.
It worked but was loud and not very efficient.

I got a deal on an aquarium chiller so I planned out a new build.
It has 2 closed circuits to independently cool 2 fermenters

Spike 10 conical that I typically fill to 14gal and a 1/2 barrel sanke keg that will be 14gal

Trial runs are showing 53-54 F with no struggle.
This is for ales only, really just need to maintain 64F

Chiller = $35
Cooler = $45
Fittings =$40
Sanke coil $45
Controls =from last build
Wood = free
Pumps for cooling $30

I spotted these not too long ago and wondered how well it would work for something like this. I've seen the "air cooled" versions (At least, I think that's how they work, correct me if not) and was thinking about making a fermentation chiller since that's the last area of temp control I haven't ventured into.

Trying to picture what is in the cooler...
Is the chiller cooling down water in the cooler and there are pumps in the cooler sending that chilled water through the fermentation coils?
