My washer is only 5ft away from my brewing set up. I even use the cold water line going to the washer to supply my thermochiller. I put my laundry in the washer and drain my chiller into it until full and do a load of laundry. Water is expansive here.
I ferment in kegs in the same chest freezer I use to serve in. I just set it to 65 degrees. I use 4.5gal for my recipe volume. Never had a problem with any blow off. I purchased extra kegs for primary fermenters and drilled a 3/4in hole in caps for my bubblers. I then transfer to secondary keg...
Don't forget the cost of the cooling water. Here in New Mexico it's my highest bill. $70.00/mth in the winter and over $100.00/mth in the summer. I send my hot water to the washer and do a load of laundry.
Wanted a even more compact unit. Takes up less space (no mash container). I can also keep the mash on temp then mash out with just setting the temp I want to mash out at. I usually brew 2 batches back to back. I've been tinkering with a 45min mash and a 45min boil time.
Good luck with the career change. I'd drink all the profits:) I went back to BIAB and used my Countertop Brutus knowledge to build this. I did a Boddington this last weekend and got 84% efficiency.
I've tried everything and made my share of starters. I even have a stir plate. I allways go back to dry. Easy to use. Dump in...no mess no fuss....done.
Thanks I'd like to make all the hoses out of copper. Also I think I would like to get a new pot and solder the fittings. That's why I'm fallowing this post.
O I'm guessing you want to know if I have any thing on paper. No I just started welding. I would recommend using a cheap 110 volt welder...
After seeing the price of a Braumeister I made this. Wanted it made of steal because that's what I have laying around but made it really strong. Every thing is in metal outlet 4x4 or 4x6 boxes. I use a pizza pan for a strainer to protect the bag. It really brews great. I usually get around 83 to...
Just wanted to chime in again on this brew. I think this is the perfect beer to go all grain. Its simple yet has a great malty taste. I've brewed this almost exclusively for almost the last few years. You can make it as simple as adding Northern at 60 min and throwing in Goldings at 15 min to...
I have made Amarillo IPA many times and have never put my pellet hops in a bag. Thats 4 ozs of hops. Just make sure if you are doing a late addition you dissolve it throughly before you turn the pump on or you might get a clog at the kettle outlet.
