    Blueberry Cyser?

Indeed you are correct MikeRLynch, I thought that I would need the lime for acidity because so many recipes call for acid blend. The blueberry juice was pretty acidic though so I hope it isn't going to be too sour. If it ends up too sour should I undergo malolactic fermentation or am I getting...

    Blueberry Cyser?

Hey guys, Just made my first "Mead". It is 2# of clover honey dissolved into 40 oz of blueberry juice and enough unfiltered apple juice to make 1 gallon. I also added the juice of 1/2 a lime. Pitched Cote des Blancs with 1/2 tsp of nutrient. Really nice dark color in the carboy and a few...

    How to bottle wine?

I just pitched in my first wine ( actually a blueberry cyser ). I am already thinking about bottling time, I have a bench capper for doing brews, but do not have any corking supplies for wine bottles. I do not want to have to go out and buy a corker, so is there any type of bottle that I can use...

    Tight Enough Bottles?

Hi everyone, I just bottled my first batch last night. I used a super agata bench capper. The caps seem to be pretty tight, but one thing that I did notice is that if I use all of my strength I can get them to twist a little bit. Is this normal? Also, should I be able to see the signs of...

    Fermentation Temperature Question

You are fine to move it back, the super high temps subside after a few days.

    kriek?

I am glad to hear that you brew turned out well but I am not sure that you followed the traditional method for brewing kriek. I am pretty sure that you are supposed to brew the lambic and after primary fermentation you then add the cherries to create a secondary fermentation. If I read correctly...

    Carbing with Apple Juice?

    Don't I feel like the idiot now....:drunk:

    Carbing with Apple Juice?

Ok well the general consensus is that 3/4 cup of dextrose is the standard for carbing a five gallon batch of....well...anything. I was trying to stay away from refined sugars in this batch so would it be ok to substitute apple juice for the dextrose. Because there are around 200 grams of...

    Good Extract Stout Recipe

Ok, all this talk about partial mash brewing is making me want to try it, I just don't want to get ahead of myself. Soon I know I'll be at home depot getting the parts to build a mash tun but I might get a talking to for that :D I need to bite the bullet and get that 7.5 gallon brewpot but...

    Good Extract Stout Recipe

Hey Guys, I hope to do my first beer as soon as my primary clears up. I really want to do an Irish Stout because I love Guinness but would rather stay all extract if possible because this is my first beer. I see that a lot of the recipes call for oats and other grains that need mashing, is...

First Try at Hard Cider Tastes Bad :(

Trust me, just let it be for a while and then try. What yeast did you use?

    Sediment?

So I have waited the night and it has settled pretty well on the bottom. There are about 2 inches of it on the bottom. Anyone who has brewed graff before, is this common or did I do something wrong? I guess only time will tell.

    Sediment?

Here is the pic, fermentation hasn't started up yet but if you guys could tell me what is going on that would be great.
