    ICEMASTER MAX 2

I would not put two different controllers/probes connected to the same vessel. If they are not calibrated the same they could end up fighting each other and running at the same time etc. What I did for this was wire my Icemaster max 2 to be able to control heat. I followed this guide, but you...

    Brewzilla Gen4 Discussion/Tips Talk

Thanks for the replies, sounds like my chiller might just barely fit. Unfortunately the 65L is not in the cards as my condo does not have any 220 and I don't really want to pay to have an outlet put in. Sounds like I would definitely want the extension if i went this direction. Originally I...

    Brewzilla Gen4 Discussion/Tips Talk

I was considering purchasing a brewzilla since my old cooler mash tun is nearing it's end of life. I think at a minimum I will wait until the heat exchanger plate and bluetooth thermometers are readily available in the US and some people have put them through their paces. A large part of the...

I guess you will have to choose which bothers you more. I'm crazy about avoiding cold side oxidation and I have never had a problem with dry hop character. In some of the early posts on this thread users were using CO2 to rouse dry hops from the bottom up in to solution. I'm not sure how...

Is there a reason for putting the butterfly valve at the top and not at the end? If you have any sealed sections with air it's going to be impossible to avoid oxygen ingress. I always put my valve at the end of the line and just let the trub fill the elbow.

takes me about 15-20 minutes to fill a keg, but I take it slow and use a spunding valve to make sure there is little to no foaming since I carb in the CF5. I have definitely had the poppets get clogged up with junk before and had to clean it all out and start over though.

I had to take the ball lock post off the PRV a few times and retape it before i could get it to seal as well. Spraying with starsan always showed a very small leak until i got the thread tape just right. On a side note i got my new chilling coil in and this one seems fine, I have a new batch...

So I have had my CF5 for a couple of years now but recently my fermentation fridge/kegerator died so rather than replace it I purchased an Icemaster max 2 and a chilling coil from spike. I modified my max 2 for heating using this video: And I have been quite pleased with how it came out...

    ICEMASTER MAX 2

Yeah this picture was taken when i was still testing the pumps and leak testing the system.

    ICEMASTER MAX 2

I got my new Icemaster Max 2 last week and I am pleased to say they seemed to have revised the newer front temp controllers to display Fahrenheit. The STC1000 on the back still seems to only display in Celsius but since that one rarely if ever gets adjusted that's not a big deal. I also...

Fruit Beer Toecutters Brewery Blood Orange Belgian Wit

I know the author is inactive but just thought I would drop by to say that I brew this every year and it's always a big hit.

Does the 35L/9.25G Brewzilla fit a Jaded Hydra?

I am considering purchasing the Brewzilla and already have a jaded Hydra. I know they make a Scylla specifically for use with electric brewing systems but i would like to keep using my Hydra if at all possible. Anyone using this setup that can comment? The Hydra is a tad more than 11.5...

One caveat i found to keeping the racking arm down at all times is it will keep an air bubble in there. This also prevents the carb stone from being exposed to wort which kind of negates it's usefulness. I recommend orienting it up at least once before fermentation begins to allow the air bubble...

Interesting, i've got 12 used ones from different vendors and after changing out O rings and 1 or 2 poppets i've never had one that leaks. I'm happy to see the price on new ones is coming down considerably though.

Spike Conical- observations and best practices

My first beer out of my CF5 was a big hit at our turkey day celebration. Made a La Fin Du Monde clone that came out pretty damn close to the original. I stupidly forgot to orient the racking arm upward before using the carb stone so it really wasn't covered in beer unfortunately, a mistake i...

Spike Conical- observations and best practices

I already had a freezer top fridge that I modified to use as my ferm chamber/kegerator and i wouldn't change it out for a glycol chiller. All i do is set it and forget it and I can achieve any temperature i want with ease. The only real down side is it does hide the pretty stainless, but it...

Nah just gas to avoid any carbonation. I just don't want to deform the lid or something tightening too hard.

Spike Conical- observations and best practices

I received my CF5 this week. So far all I've done is put it together and pressure test it because I had to make some modifications to my fermentation chamber to accommodate the height of the gas manifold. I put in 10 PSI to test it and was losing about 1 PSI per day. I tightened down the lid...
